A New Life - My 1 Year Ramble

SSC Gang, First off I want to thank Lady for that incredible anny post for my 1 year quit in the Stats forum. That was quite a trip down memory lane reading all those old posts!! You're quite the researcher! I have put together a little ramble, probably my last one, for this occasion. One year is indeed a milestone in the quit process and I am very proud to have made it. However, I will not rest on my laurels as I will remain ever vigilant during my continuing jouney in my new, smoke free life. A New Life One year. Where has the time gone? Some parts are a blur while others will live with me forever. I have called this ramble A New Life because that is exactly how I feel since I quit smoking. Many of you know the story about my 10 month, 8 day quit back in 2004. For me I think I needed that. It was quite an eye opener. I do not regret losing that quit for without it I would not appreciate My New Life. In that 2004 quit I experienced practically every emotion a person can while still retaining a part of my sanity. I cried. I laughed. I withdrew. I bragged. I condemned. I was the total package. One miserable, loathsome individual who was simply lost. Just as a human must develop in the womb before its born, I too had to develop before I could grow into My New Life. All told, with my 2004 quit time and my relapse time, I developed for 16 months, 8 days. (Just for the record, that is the approximate gestation period of the sperm whale, if that tells you anything about me :p ) This ramble isnt a how to about quitting. I think that most people who come to this site have some idea of what its going to take to quit. What a few dont anticipate is all the b.s. that some of us endure in the early and mid stages of a quit. That is what separates the lifetime quitters from the slippers/relapsers. Can the slipper or the person who relapses still get that lifetime quit? Heck, youre reading his story right now! How does that come about? Thought and preparation. No short cuts. No I wishes. No Im trying. (We all know about trying to quit, dont we?? ;p ) My New Life was born from the thousands of butts Ive scattered over this country. Together, their collective flame could pro
