FUN AT THE CARDIOLOGY JOINT

18 years ago 0 210 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Ups sorry EVE they took a chain saw and whacked open his chest and replaced all of his heart valves. They just didn't work any longer due to a childhood illness. The old fart claims to this day they used his heart to kick around the OR playing socker but he survived anyway. Today was my annual excursion to the world of Cardiology. It has been 13 years since my surgery and they want to examine me once a year if only to see if their products are still working.duh. I did get a warranty with my valves and I am glad that I did not have to use them. Murphys Law was following me around all day and this adventure was certainly no exception. Old Murphy was right there in the examining room just waiting for the opportunity. The first event to occur after the usual BP, pulse and temp was an EKG. The room was naturally colder than well diggers behind in the Klondike. Removing my shirt and laying on that cold table while the leads and wires were hooked up was not pleasant, but I endured. The nurse started the machine and said, with a smile of course, Ill be back to check on you. She re-appeared in about 10 minutes, looked things over and an immediate frown came on the face replacing the smile. Then came the oh dam.Mr. Duffis either you or the EKG machine is dead ..I better go get the Drand out the door she flew. Thank you Murphy, your making my day. I must not look too cute as the Dr. came in, looked at me, and immediately hit my chest with a stethoscope which of course was as cold as the well diggers shovel and pronounced that hey hes alive. Mean while back at the ranch, the lone nurse found the plug to the dam machine which of course was not plugged in. 30 minutes later the re-test showed normal. Next came the BS part of the exam naturally designed to put time on the clock and not really accomplish any thing meaningful other than one up man ship. I won this year with my 430 days quit from smoking while my cardiologist was still biting his fingernails. Dah dah. I offered to give him some consultation time to help him break his nasty habit but as usual, he declined. I walked out good to go for another year taking some neat new drugs for my lifes enjoyment. Blackmail Well enough of this prattle. I cant wait for next years exam.
