Jer, I never worked out when I was a smoker, but when I quit I started an aggressive walking program. (I was monitoring my heart rate and blood pressure daily at the time and I quit smoking and started walking to try to avoid going on medication.) My heart rate began going down the very first day I quit. My blood pressure took a little while longer, but today my HR, BP, and cholesterol are all in normal range. Don't let fear keep you from achieving the life you deserve!
However, I would suggest that you stay on the patch as long as you need to to make this a successful quit. Be patient!
Rusty :)
