Hi Trudy, when I told my dr I quit smoking he whipped out his stethascope and started listening to me breathe.....like, what.....you think I'm LYING. You have to check? However, this is not the first indication I had that he's a poop. Hi, Trudy. Unfortunately, they don't teach common sense and bedside manner at medical school. I'm sure that he meant well, but he has probably never smoked and has no idea what an accomplishment it is. My doctor has never smoked. While he applauded my quitting and has read on the subject, it was pretty obvious he really didn't have a clue. On the other hand, his nurse quit many years ago and they way her eyes lit up was one of the best pats on the back I've had. Sometimes we just have to consider the source. :) Shevie My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/23/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 322 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 6,453 Amount Saved: $1223.6 Life Gained: Days: 60 Hrs: 3 Mins: 47 Seconds: 15

Trudy - You need to read between the lines. What he said: "What took you so long?" What was implied: "That's great. You've made a very smart decision." You need to remember these guys see people in some very very bad situations. Not that it's right, but they do shield themselves from personal involvement. They need to out of self preservation. I personally think he did give you the atta girl. Here's another - ATTA GIRL WAY TO GO! I often wonder why some people just can't bring themselves to say "good job" or "attagirl". My husband is like that and it really hurts my feelings sometimes. Is it because their parents didn't congratulate them? Whatever it is, we do know that we can get support here and that's a very good thing! Members, Listen, the first step in quitting smoking is to be in control. There are many individuals who are not always supportive to us when quitting smoking. Us moderators really do understand the quitting process. We are all past quitters ourselves! Just remember, this is your life and your are in control of your quit! It is up to you to make the decision to remain quit or plan your quit. Statistics have show that our our online quit program, our support staff and our members have assisted many of thousands of people quit smoking! So really....if one wants to "pooh, pooh" our quits, then let them....HAHAHAHA!! Stay strong everyone :). Melanie _______________________ The SSC Support Team
