One Year For Shevie

Shevie. Congratulations on your awesome accomplishment of reaching one year quit. It has been a pleasure traveling this quit road with you. You have been a good friend and this trip up the mountain would not have been the same without you. Your 100 day rant is my favorite of all your posts. We have been blessed to have you along for support along this journey. Enjoy your day and celebrate well. You deserve it. 100-day musings of a quasi-coherent brain But this is much like climbing a mountain at twilight. You cant see everything. Some of those ahead stepped over loose rocks and I didnt. There I learned faith and patience. Faith in what Id been told, that it would pass, and patience to wait until it did. I simply grabbed whatever was available, usually someone ahead, and held on. In a few weeks, as I climbed higher, got more experience, got more confidence, I began thinking of those behind me. I could readily identify with them because the path was still vivid in my memory. So I started looking back, trying to point out some rough spots, trying to grab a hand if necessary. Id been given so much help, the least I could do was pay it forward, back down the mountain. There I learned I enjoy doing that. As time passed, some of those ahead slipped. I was shocked! I simply couldnt imagine how somebody who was so far along, so experienced in their quit, that I was following and trusting and relying on, could be weaker than me. But I heard a resounding call to arms, I saw those ahead of them reaching back, grabbing for whatever they could; those to the side hugging; those behind forming a barrier of encouragement. There I learned the people ahead were just like me, human. That made their accomplishments even more remarkable, and achievable. And I learned to accept this quit as a life-long commitment. Thank you for sticking around and helping us make it through the tough days and for celebrating all the milestones with us. You have helped so many make it up that quit mountain. Your inspiration and support does not go unnoticed. Hmmm.I believe I hear the beating of a drum Did you hear that? Dear Shevie. What is there to say? Firstly, congratulations. No matter how dedicated we are, it is still a tough journey of recovery. Look where you are. Secondly, thank you. You are one of the reason I managed to stay quit. You inspired me, supported me and encouraged me. I owe a debt to you that I will pass on in some way to some one else, maybe about smoking, maybe not. Enjoy your day. Be so proud and kiss your wife. Big reward time!! By the way, I'm quite jealous of your quit meter. We quit around the same time but you seemed to have double the added days. Hmmmm. There must be a higher purpose for you my friend :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/6/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 351 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 6,326 Amount Saved: $2527.2 Life Gained: Days: 32 Hrs: 12 Mins: 27 Seconds: 1

Shevie, my buddy! CONGRATULATIONS!!! One full year. Can you believe it?! Echoing the comments of others, you truly are a class act, and have made an amazing impact here at SSC. Leading by example, and seemingly always there with a quick response when a fellow quitter sounded an S.O.S. I can't thank you enough for the assistance you gave me in my quit, through smooth sailing and rough. Thank you Shevie, and enjoy your one-year-tobacco-free reward!!! Here's to 365 days N.O.P.E., and many more to come! ;) Infinite_D My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/21/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 367 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 7,718 Amount Saved: $403.7 Life Gained: Days: 47 Hrs: 12 Mins: 36 Seconds: 20

WOW!!! This is so totally awesome! If I could smile any bigger my teeth would fall out. :) Thank you for starting this thread, Pen. I'm honored. N2k, thank you so very much. That post is just spectacular. How do you do it? Really, I want to know. And where did you find an Arizonal license plate with my name on it??? Oh, and you're welcome. :) Cuddles, Sweet Pea, and Healer, you always have the neatest graphics. Thank you. Luna, see what sarcasm can lead to? Thanks again. And you may have heard the sound of drums. I forgot and left the back door open for a while. Golferman, if hoping for success without hard work is like trying to harvest without planting, then you've got a bumper crop coming. Thank you for all your words of wisdom and common sense. Lady, you told me once that you've never pushed anyone. That's not true. Thank you for being a barrier of encouragement for me many more times than you'll ever know. Butterfly Swimmer, Pam, I really want to know what you were doing taking pictures of me through my window. :) OK, the real pic is in the VIP club thread and in the May Co. rewards thread. Flatlander, you're welcome. And Becky says thanks. ;) Can't explain the quit meter, it's one of life's great mysteries. Maybe it's because I'm a guy, or maybe an age thing. Infinite, we did it my friend! Ain't it great? :) Hummy, what can I say? You've pretty much been by my side from the get-go. Thank you for being there. Ahhhh, the South. Where grass and trees grow all by themselves. {sigh} fred/Jan, thanks for dropping in. My heart really goes out to you for all you've got going on right now. We'll stay in touch, you take care of your end, and when the time comes for your quit then we'll handle it. 3galeh!, it's been a pleasure to be nipping at your heels these past 12 months. Thank you for breaking ground. :) Melanie, Josie, Casey, and everyone else with the SSC, thank you so very much for all your hard work keeping this place running smoothly. To everyone else, thank you for your support of me and everyone else. You're why this place works and why people like me can respond to threads like this. You're all an awesome group. Stand tall and proud. Now I'm going to annoy
