Hi healthystar, What do you love about smoking? The way it makes you smell? The way it forces you to look for ways to do it? The men that it attracts into your life? The fact that it is slowly killing you? Like all the rest of us on this site, you are addicted to smoking. The addiction is causing that feeling of love. If you didn't need it or want it, then there would be no addiction. Get the love thoughts out of your head. There is nothing to love about smoking. Admit to being addicted to it. Quitting is hard, but you can do it. Go through the quit program tools. Set a quit date. Once that date comes, get rid of all smoking paraphenalia -- ashtrays, lighters, smokes, everything. It doesn't do any good to keep that stuff around. Then log in here and read and post as much as you can. We've all been where you're headed. The wonderful people here can give you a hand whenever you need it. Live by the mantra N.O.P.E. (Not One Puff Ever) You know where that slippery slope will lead you. Good luck, and let us know how you're doing. ask yourself just what it really IS about smoking that you "love"??? Every single one of them is a lie of some sort....a twist of the truth....a romanticism about smoking....an 'excuse' to keep smoking. when YOU truly want to 'quit' more that you want to 'smoke'??? When you see the addiction for what it is...(the controlling factor in your life) You will make the choice to stop and stick with it. begin now, focusing on what you already know....that you lived well withOUT smoking! If you will make lists, there is NOTHING positive about smoking and EVERYTHING positive about quitting. You may quit and you may maintain a quit for even a long period of time, but you have got to let go of that junky thinking that smoking somehow improves your life....that thought is a big fat lie. Are we outspoken...yes we are....it's cause you have got to see the truth.....but at the same time I seem to lecture, my hand is reaching out for yours to pull you into this fold of safety and support. You CAN do this and you can change your thinking about it also......so be prepared to make this site your home. there are no stupid questions and there is always an ear for whatEVER is bugging you. Speak right up.....everyone is here to help Katy My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/4/2002 Smoke-Free Days: 1478 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 59,137 Amount Saved: $8129 Life Gained: Days: 192 Hrs: 20 Mins: 11 Seconds: 39
