What a kind gesture, brent :) Learning to live without smoking is a battle and this site is all about helping each other win that battle. I think our hearts sink a little for a soul when we see them slip. We can ask people not to smoke but more than that, they need to have the desire and will within themselves. Only then can they be successful. It takes dedication, getting your mind in the right place and finding what works for you. As Rusty has said, do whatever it takes and as Sheila said, you're definitely worth it. this site never ceases to amaze me! I love all you guys and gals! Our friend is so blessed to have found a support system like this (as we all are blessed). I wish her strength and determination. I wish her the epiphany I had where you realize that at this point in time you will be miserable whether you smoke or not. You see, as long as you smoke, you will continue to want to quit. You will continue to suffer mini-craves as long as you feed the addiction and major craves when you quit. BUT when you stick with it....it get's better, the craves will someday end. We CAN do this! Brent and Shevie, you two are very kind and wise souls. I'm sure that our dog groomer friend can feel the love and hugs that you are surrounding her with. For others reading this thread, please know that everyone's struggle is different. Some have an easier time than others. Some have a more physical quit, while others may be more emotional (that was me.) But everyone has this one thing in common: the only way to quit is to not ever take another hit off a cigarette. Whatever you have to do, you must make the quit your number one priority if you are to succeed. If you have to hide yourself in a Buddhist monastery or on a desert island or just in your bedroom under your covers, do whatever it takes. Recognize this for what it is: full-blown addiction. There is no other way.
