In meditation, you practice not running away from thoughts or avoiding them, but acknowledging them and letting them go. I think this is the same practice to do when smoking thoughts come into our heads...no matter how many days, months, weeks or years...don't wrestle with them or engage in a war of tears or worry or words. Just say "hello" and let them go.
