Hey greenette. I quit on wed. and had the very same feeling of having nothing to look forward to. I thought, nothing can replace that cigarette after eating.. hey I like that dessert !! But, it is like heroine or cocaine addiction, of course we feel it is the only thing that can satisfy us. get a bag of lemonheads, redhots, butterscotch, sunflower seeds, whatever you want.. get a few too !! Use those when you get a craving. you will burn out on those after a few days but, by then you will break some habits and the urge will be less. Somtimes when I get an urge, I pick up a pen and start drawing a picture or something.. by the time I draw even something simple, the craving is gone.. Cravings don't last longer than 3 minutes and by the 4th day, they occur half as much.. you can do it !!! I have been smoking for 26 years and I am determined to get rid of the ball and chain. The desire will pass.. eat some candy and pass the time.. Chris

Greenette, I fully understand where you are coming from. The thought, What Will I ever Do NOW comes along almost all the time. However will I mark the passage of time! One of my most favorite day dreams is leaving California and moving to Florida. I have seen myself on the balcony of a high rise so many times that I can tell you what the cloud formations look like. And, I always have a glass of wine and a cigarette while in my lounge chair. What happens to my dreams now that there is no more cigarettes? It's over, why bother. Cigarettes are the be and end all in my life, without them, it's not worth going on. It's not worth moving away. Isn't that the silliest thing you ever read? My entire self worth is wrapped up in tobacco and paper? That's asinine! Yet, you'd be surprised how many times I really think that way.

Hi everyone, Yesterday was my first day off the cigs, i was doing fine with cravings, but the crying is nuts. Last night i got so sad & was crying alot. felling sorry for myself. I feel like i have nothing to look forward to anymore, how stupid is that. I also feel like i lost my best friend. Wow this is making me mad to. Crazy cigarettes can, how make you feel this way.I really want to be able to stop this thing, but this sad stuff is getting to me. I'm almost 51, & crying like a baby. I don't know what to do with myself. I know i should keep busy, but i don't feel like doing anything. I have no energy to it. Can someone please tell me when will this end? Plus i am a diabetic, I gotit about 6 years ago. I am on the insulin.I checked my sugars this morning & its very high. This is also getting me down. One good thing is that i work at home as a hairstylist, so at least i have that to keep me a bit busy. Ciao for now, thankyou to everyone. Hi Lady, Thankyou for replying. It does help to know that i have friends in here that went or are going through the same thing. You are right about not smoking, cause i don't want to start this process again.OH NO WAY!!!! This is the pits. Also i have something else to say. I really don't want to eat, because after you eat, thats when a smoke is good. Unfortunatley we have to eat. But i am hoping i won't gain weight by doing it this way, if you know what i mean. Thanks again & hugs to you to. I'll be back as i told redrosie, who also helped me. Thanks to all of you. Hi Katy, I'm watching the sugar. Its still high but it will take a couple of days to get it back to normal. Had a real bad craving for a smoke. Cried, felt sorry for myself again. Oh i can't wait till this is gone.My poor husband, he gave me a hug, said it will be ok. I said i will do this if it kills me. He told me to get on here & tell all of you.So here I am. This site is really helpfull. I can't believe how much. Everyone is so good on here. Thanks you guys. Hugs to all of you. No it isn't asinine, I think the same way, but as people tell me on here, that we have to focus on the good things about being a non smoker. You can still have your dream, just no smokes. Imagine not having to worry about running out of those things & panicking cause you need to get some more. Plus the fact, we will have more energy, no caughing, saved money to.We can go out to dinner without having to go outside to have a smoke in between courses.I don't want to have to think about these things anymore. When i look at people who don't smoke, i think to myself how lucky they are not to have to worry about cigarettes. I still want one, but i won't, at least not today. Hang in there & stay with me.

Greenette Hope you are doing a little better now - just remember, withdrawal won't kill you but the cigs just might - not meant to sound harsh, just a little reality check. Like you, I spent most of the first week crying and all over the place. The second week was a lot easier and now, in week three, the bad moments are just that - 'moments'. They don't last long and they are easier to push away than before. Kee p strong and keep the quit.
