Trudy,
Please, before starting any diet, speak with your Doctor or Endocrinologist. Any 'different' diet for a diabetic may not be healthy. Diabetics should monitor thier blood sugars and inulin levels. Please be cautious.
Take Care,
Melanie

Thanks again Riverdale Man, I've already ordered the books(the one you mentioned and another one)from the library but I will also do the google thing. And thanks also Melonie--I just saw my doctor yesterday when she told me about the diabetes. She handed me some photo-copied pages on Carb Counting. I questioned her about the GI index; I had brought along some info in the form of a book offer that Rodale Books was tooting and she said "they're just trying to sell their book",so she really didn't give me much of an opinion. My faith in her is a little shaky right now. I discussed this with my husband and I may look for a different doctor(my previous doc left the practice suddenly & I had to choose someone else in the group), but I won't do anything yet-I don't want to just pick one hastily like I did with this one.I have referrals to specialists that I want to follow thru with before making any changes.I have a follow up in three months with this babe so we'll see how things go then. Anyhow, thanks for your concern. Well gotta go, hubby wants to go see a movie.

Redrosie,
Hi! Let me know how the cabbage soup diet works. At grocery stores here in PA they have sugar free Mentos in the checkout line. I bought them my first week and they were great bc they were the same size and shape as my pack of cigarettes. The downside is, I think they only come in the fruit variety, and the other downside is, they taste like wax lips. But if you love Mentos you could give them a shot!

Thanks Redrosie, I too have gained probably 12-15 lbs and my clothes don't look the same on me. I think maybe the dryer shrunk them(I wish). I'm doing great, I've had a difficult day this is the 1st year anniversary of my husbands death. Smoking crossed my mind a couple of times, but it didn't stay long. I tried to stay busy with the Community Center, I take an Art Class on Friday night(oil) Bob Ross technique. Still life is my favorit.
I know you are proud of your daughter's work with famine relief. Yes, you are right it certianly puts our diets in perspective. We are so blessed. I also drink lots of water and green tea. I have fasted before with clear liquids and it isn't bad. I should try that at least once a week.
Thanks again Redrosie and have a smoke free weekend. Blessings are sent your way.....

I just do not want to give over the centre of that lovely little delicious cabage roll. That is the best part. I am going to pout!
Redrosie, keep strong. Get out that bicycle, or is there still snow there. I personally would keep the Menthos I bet they mean a lot to you right now! Hope you get the answers.
