You know, I can relate to part of that problem. I just suddenly started smoking two packs a day a few months ago. I think some of that jump came from the anxiety had had about not being able to quit smoking. Congrats again, N2K. I loved your (Emerson - I understand it was mis-attributed to him)quote up there.. THAT is success. It made me think of my ex-husband the abusive twit, telling me that I neaded to make more money and get a better job if I wanted to be a sucess. Yet, there he is miserable - getting evicted again, and smoking despite the fact that they found a spot in his lung. Really Misty, wow. Huh, I wonder who said it then *?* (at least we know it wasn't your ex ;)) Hang tough girl! 34 days is success in my books! -- :) @ Marie -- I wouldn't doubt it bg. Fear is scary!! :p Seriously, I was so scared to quit. Looking back it seems somewhat silly, but at the time it was very real. As I've said before, for some of us just 'getting quit' is one of the biggest hurdles. The longest I lasted in previous quit attempts was 16 hours. That's pathetic. And it made me believe I was too weak and frightened to go without a cigarette EVER. Nothing was further from the truth though. AND get this.... It was just the opposite for my friend Mc. She found it easy to quit but difficult to not slip on weekends. AND get this.... *grin* This month we are both celebrating our one year quit anniversaries. :) So see new members, it can be done by everyone no matter who you are. Just stay strong and remember N.O.P.E like me, Mc, bg and all the others. N2K, Thank you for sharing your story with us. Taking the time to admit and write this letter takes a lot of willpower and acceptance. I respect you that much more. Take Care, Melanie ______________________ The SSC Support Team

For the record I like Shevie's quotes better than yours bfs :p (No wait! I do like the one that makes me look like I'm still 40 ;)) tks~ Shevie I am sure you are good at your job but you are in the wrong profession. I can only imagine how good you would be at counseling if you could read our facial expressions too. You should have been a psychiatrist. It pays well. I know as I learn the innermost secrets of my co-workers, they reward me in many ways to keep me quiet.~lol So you would surely be rolling in the dough! It WAS your words that pushed (haunted is more accurate ;)) me until I made the decision to jump off the fence. (and then YOU were the first person I wanted to tell!) You said: N2k, you have to get free of this addiction. I'm not being mean, but I'm going to say this as plainly as I can. This is your quit. You worry about your quit. Do not worry about anybody else. They are our problem, not yours. We will help them just as we will help you. The only thing you need to think about is getting you free from tobacco. Once you're secure in your quit, only then do you worry about anybody else. I WAS worrying about Mc at the time because I was scared to focus on myself. Then you put THAT in my face. *grin* I'm never speechless, but I was that evening. :8o: :) I look forward to celebrating YOUR 365. We all do. -- oinkX2u hi :) U are 2kind. So tell us about your name sometime. I Need2know how you came up with such a unique moniker. -- LadyB ~~bugghuggs~ :) -- Amen Hummy :) much tks~ (I am quit tks in part to each of you) ~all the best 2 My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/20/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 185 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,090 Amount Saved: $925 Life Gained: Days: 17 Hrs: 15 Mins: 33 Seconds: 10

Duffis..no no..Thank you!! Your quit journey on the pages of this forum is one that I have tried to emulate. Your wisdom is part of the reason I am 6 months quit today! There is nothing you have written that I have not read. :) ~all the best 2 My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/20/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 184 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,068 Amount Saved: $920 Life Gained: Days: 17 Hrs: 13 Mins: 16 Seconds: 6
