just in case you were wondering what the heck i'm up to........travelling for work for 2 days. And yes, i'm in the lovely state of New York........never been here before (by myself) and getting lost here is as nervewracking as in Kansas City. but that's another story! I can't sing. And the real words are travelling man....but you get the idea. I thought I would start my own post, instead of constantly hijacking poor Brent's... I made it. OMG. Driving out of LaGuardia, at night, BY MYSELF. Geez Louise. Did I ever have HUGE CRAVINGS. but......I made it, without stopping for directions ;) or cigarettes ;p and now i'm here in my non-smoking guestroom, getting my SSC fix before bed. thanks to everyone for your words of encouragement. That was a huge trigger for me, if you hadn't guessed. Not just the driving, but the getting lost :8o: (I always get lost......) and generally smoked 1/2 pack or more trying to get un-lost. This time it was deep breathing and Jolly Ranchers. But it worked. I may not post again before my trip home. But if I made it here, I can make it back. thanks again.... thanks everyone.............I'm baaaaaaaaaack. :p It turned into a pretty decent trip, as I didn't have to make the drive back to the airport (hitched a ride and ditched the car ;) One thing that I found totally liberating during my meetings was the absence of the need to leave every hour or so for a smoke........ No one else in the room was a smoker (that was obvious) and we had three breaks per day - mid-morning, lunch and mid-afternoon. If this meeting had occured two months ago, I would have used my breaks to make a mad dash outside, power smoke, run back inside, use the ladies' to wash my hands (thinking THAT is enough to get rid of the smell) and then hold up the meeting by then dashing off to the cafeteria or snack shop for my coffee............while everyone else is sitting waiting........ And waiting (forever) at the airport too.......before I would have literally been crawling the walls :gasp: dying for a smoke. Having to go thru the agony of security at least once (sometimes twice) to get my last "fix" before the plane takes off.... This time, while seated in the plane, I definitely could tell who had gotten their "pre-boarding fix"!! I'm off to Atlanta next month, so killing off those damn triggers as quickly as I can.......just get it out of the way and MOVE ON!! it's good to be back................. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/19/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 40 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 606 Amount Saved: $270 Life Gained: Days: 3 Hrs: 15 Mins: 35 Seconds: 35

Hi Groove Kitty..........don't you let me down! You stay smoke free no matter how lost you get. Treat yourself as well. I grabbed a show and had a look round St Pauls Cathedral.....awesome! Wouldn't want to clean the windows though! GROOVEKITTY- boy can I relate to how you used to do the airport thing. Describes me to a T !! Especially the power smoking and going through security more than once. I would do anything for that last smoke- take my shoes off, go through the beeping thingy, the whole bit. How silly- but will have to do it with my hubby next month, I'm afraid, as he is still smoking.... :( My Milage: My Quit Date: 9/17/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 133 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,009 Amount Saved: $864.5 Life Gained: Days: 18 Hrs: 14 Mins: 15 Seconds: 6

Congratulations Groovekitty and enjoy the Big Apple. I'm sure you will do just fine. I don't know why you would even think about buying cigarettes....You don't smoke. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/1/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 207 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,146 Amount Saved: $724.5 Life Gained: Days: 18 Hrs: 6 Mins: 31 Seconds: 21

Hey Groovekitty, Glad to hear you made it OK. I'm also one of those directionally challenged persons. :) I'm glad you made it without having a smoke. Thats' a faaaaaaaaaar drive from KC to NY! I'm also from KC (well, I lived there for a while), and I know ALL about getting lost in KC - especially Kansas!!! There are parts of Kansas City I NEVER wanted to see :8o: and hopefully will never see again!!!!!! :p But anyway, that's a different story. Glad to hear you made it alright. Have a good trip and a safe trip home. Crave the Quit!
