Hi Apple,

That is great that you are noticing your mood improving due to being in more social situations. It really is amazing how much positive social interaction can improve mood. We really are social creatures.

I think approaching who you feel more comfortable with is a good plan. Try to come here and read the program and post here as much as you can as I think you will find it will start making a difference rather quickly. We will be here for you. I hope you are having a good weekend.

Today is ok. Im so tired though and my boss wants me here till 11. I'm not sure I really feel comfortable talking to them. Maybe if I approach one of the other girls. the one I dealt with so far has been very un helpful. I have been a little better since my cousin moved in. Also, much to my amazement, I have been a little happier since getting to spend some time around old coworkers. didnt realize how much I missed them. I also have noticed, the more I force myself to spend time with friends and family, better mood I am in. for the most part. I am going to try and find my own therapist to see more often. i find it hard with my children to get on the computer. I will say, I have felt a lot less alone since finding this site. Thank you. here is to one day at a time

Hi Apple,

I am sorry to read what you are experiencing. It sounds like you could really use some support right now. I think talking to human resources about your options is important. You may also want look into resources in your area that can help you. Jay offers some great questions and thoughts.

I am glad you are under the care of a doctors for medication. What other treatments are being offered to you? If you are not doing any form of therapy I would strongly encourage you to do so. Research tells us the CBT is effective at treating depression. This program is based on CBT so I also encourage you to get started on this program when you are able to. Be sure to take notes and complete the homework. If you feel you need extra help I urge you to seek out a therapist. Medication can be helpful but treatment is essential for fighting depression.

We are here if you have any questions or just to vent. You are not in this alone.

How are you feeling today?

We really dont have sick time. We have 10 pesonal emergency days, but this doesnt really apply to that. my dr wasnt too happy about giving me a note to go back to work as I havent been able to tolorate any of the meds he has tried. I would have preferred to stay part time. But having lost so much money already, I cant afford to be working part time any longer. A part of me says I should talk to our human resource and tell her how the lack of help from the company has made me feel. I really think its time for a new job, but as we all know, that is easier said than done.

In Canada, a company cannot legally discriminate against you.  Isn't it in the Canadian Charter of Rights?  My workplace is very helpful, but it is a municipal agency.  They have Acclaim as a third party intermediary.  Still the process here runs better if it is employer initiated rather than employee initiated.

Have you used up your sick time?  Have you spoken to your doctor about what is best for your health?  Did you want to try full time and then go back to part time if you need to do so.  Maybe there are workplace accommodations that would make going back easier for you, yet not cost the company its profit.  Companies have a duty to accommodate unless it gives them undue hardship.

how do you continue to go to work when they deny your short term disability claim? I feel like they dont believe I deserve the help financially. I know my dr only gave me a note to go back because I told him I had to so that I can pay my bills. I was off 5wks and part time for 9wks. I feel like nobody is listening to what I want and that they dont understand what I am going through. I really dont know if I can handle full time, but I already had to take a new loan so I didnt lose my utilities.  I guess you could say I feel a lot of resentment towards my workplace right now, but feel very stuck do to the money I make and the total monthly bills I have to pay out. Any advice?
