It is always best to let yourself rest if you feel you need rest but it is also important to challenge your depression at times. Sometimes social activity is just what we need to turn our mood around; although it might not feel like it right at the moment. Positive social interactions can be very helpful and it can hurt us more to avoid people when depressed. It can be our instinct to keep to ourselves and rest when depressed but sometimes this might not be the best course of action.
You’re doing well and starting to feel more like yourself again but today you had a bad day. You leave work and are looking forward to a quiet evening at home. You get through horrible traffic and do your best to ignore your neighbour’s dog barking at you as you enter your house...
