Rowsie,

Welcome and thanks for sharing your story with us.  You are on the right path!  Working with your doctor and working through the program can be very beneficial for you.  By taking it slow you can progress through this and gain a better understanding of depression.

The members can be quite helpful as they do know where you are coming from and they can also share their experiences with you.

We look forward to hearing about your progress!

Hi,
I am a 34 year old married, mother of 2; a 7 year old and a 2 year old. I have suffered from depression my entire life but I was only diagnosed by my doctor while I was pregnant with my youngest. I have been on medication ever since. The medication was doing a good job so I wasn't doing anything else to help my situation.

The last six months or so things have changed, however. My husband's job has gotten more stressful and it has impacted our life at home. My job, I can handle but I recently told my boss that I want to train for a promotion. My doctor says that even good things can bring about a downward spiral, as session one informed me. We are also planning a trip to Italy in October and there is some termoil within the company I work for as well.

About two weeks ago, my doctor thought it best for me to take some time off work. I have been off for 2 weeks and will be for at least 2 more. I have withdrawn from almost everyone not in my immediate family. I no longer talk to friends and can barely get up in the morning. I joined up here to try and help work through my depression. I really like the way the site is set up with sessions and homework every week. I am over half way through completing the first week. My doctor approves of this approach since there is still a level of anonimity on an on-line site and right now that is what I am comfortable with.
