lamictal and abilify and klonopin

Diva and Karen
Thanks, Iti s amazing what one day without it has made.  I've not been in bed all day long.  Ate today and feel pretty good.  Not too depressed but made plans and participated in fun activities (football playoffs at my son's house).

I will call the doctor tomorrow or the next day depending on the Holiday thingy.  I'm going to ask him to let me document the ups and downs on a mood chart before we try something else or continue with this.  Also discuss with him my quiting taking my hormones (though he doesn't have anything to do with prescribing them).  I've heard that they suppress the effects of lamictal and quitting them can cause lamictal toxicity.  I think I'd be better off without them or at least would like to try it (doing without the hormones)l.  The gyn doesn't really want me on them as I started smoking again.)

Thanks for the information Karen. I was not aware that those were side effects.  I needed to hear that!

Goofy,

Good to hear you are feeling better today.  Unfortunately, nausea, vomitting, drowsiness and headaches are some of the common side effects of Abilify.  It is important while on this medication to avoid hazardous acitivites, hot baths/showers, and over the counter preparations not approved by your doctor as they contribute to lowering your blood pressure and increase symptoms of dizziness...hope this helps.  Please do see your doctor and let us know how it goes.

Hey Goofy,

You are welcome! I am glad you are feeling better today. That is really good news!

I think calling your doctor is a wise idea. Please let me know how it goes.

Diva, thanks for the reassurance.  I'm feeling much better today and find things palatable and my stomach seems to want to hang on to things.  I'll call the doctor tomorrow or the next as tomorrow could be a Holiday (Marting Luther King Day)  and some offices are closed.

Hey Goofy,

I think your stopping the new meds until you speak to your doctor is justified. The meds combination might be making you feel ill. Those sound like extreme side effects. I would stop it too. Especially since you just got on them, I doubt you would get much withdrawal. Stop them and see if you feel better! If you do then you know it was the meds making you feel bad. Still talk to your doctor though so you guys can figure out something together. But I think if your new meds are making you ill, stopping them is a good idea.

Okay, today after taking the medication, I've been vomiting.  I couldn't contact my doctor as he wasn't in yesterday when I was just feeling nauseated.  I am skipping tomorrow and see what happens then call him on Monday morning.  It's like morning sickness.  NO, I can't be pregnant for two reasons - I know how that happens and I had my tubes tied 12 years ago.  I'm also woozy all day, want to go back to bed and just got up two hours ago (this happened Thurs. and Fri. as well).  I don't think I have the right combination and as most know I don't advocate quitting a medication without talking to the doctor first, I am skipping a dose (ah, justification) due to the horrid side effects.  I read somewhere that hormones could have a drug interaction and will ask about this as I take hormones for peri-menopause.  Ah, maybe the reason for the "morning sickness" type symptoms.  I don't know, but I'm going against my own advice, since I'm only into this for three days at the smallest dose (more, justification).  I wish I hadn't taken it today (argh, but was giving it the benefit of the doubt).

Okay, enough complaining.....I'm woozy and nauseated, going to respond to a few posts and back to bed with me!

Okay, gotta know if anyone else has this combination?  I have only been on the abilify for two days and today was sick sick sick!  I've been taking 300 mg of lamictal for a few years, a few months ago increased to 400 mg.  Added Abilify yesterday.  I take 5 mg this week then up to 10 mg.  Then see how I am.  I hate the feeling I've had yesterday and today.  Sick to my stomach, killer headache and sooooooo sleepy.  The Klonopin has been there from 2004.  I use prn during the day for anxiety and 1.5 at night to help get to the right stage of sleep (nightmares -side effect of lamictal) I wasn't getting out of REM sleep.    It worked better than any other sleep medication and if I can get by with less to get to sleep I do.  I average 2 mg a day, but always end up with extra when my prescription is out.  In fact, he didn't have to write a prescription for 3 months one time because I had so many left over. The lamictal was doing good.  I still couldn't concentrate, read or stay focused for long.  But I felt fairly emotionally stable until all the aftermath of dad's death.  I think I've handled the actual "dad's death" part very well.  It's the paperwork, dealing with the brother, the uncle and taking care of grandmother, my son moving to the house and helping him.  It's crazy (I'm not).

Anyway, really just wanted to know about the combination of meds?
