What we know about stress at work

15 years ago 0 3043 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
hi breanne,

I am beinging to see the differences between my bipolar depressive episodes and an Major Depression.  I usually start with an increase in productivity and a highly social period , then when I start to crash I have too much incoming and cannot cope.  I put aside friends, I can't bear their lives .... its like rocks in your hiking boots.  And I do the strict minimun at home, I focus my last remaining energies into bringing home bread and worrying.

However, I love to be around people in general.  And work is my calling.  Customers love me because I always rely to them first!  It is internally that when I have expended my last reserves and fall into all the negative thinking (thinking errors) that I putts around at work.  And still, people do not see it and allow me a moment or two to catch my breath.   I guess I am better accepted because I am very productive and I know policy, procedure, and problems all very well!

Members,

In the past week, we’ve been talking about stress management. Contrary to popular belief, stress is not a given when it comes to working. Stress at work often leads to:

°          Decrease commitment

°          Decreased productivity

°          Increase in incidence of mental health illnesses such as anxiety & depression

°          Increased incidence of absenteeism

°          Decreased recruitment & retention

°          Decreased customer satisfaction

From this list, you should conclude that learning how to cope effectively with stress in the workplace can result in a better work environment. It also makes you a better employee. If you encourage others to do the same, a better boss or coworker!

How does stress impact you at work?
