Hi SmFry and welcome I feel for you -- over the past 7 or 8 years, I've lost a lot of respect for the healthcare industry. To caimansbetty's point, you have to give people and medications/alternative therapies a few months or more to see if they're actually helping, and with the vast number of options it can take years to make any progress. I tried combining options -- found a GP with a background in psychotherapy and naturopathy; got referred to a psychiatrist because I figured she would have a good understanding of the medication-therapy mix -- but it's finally been me on the internet and a casual conversation with a stranger that have brought me to a place where I'm starting to get better. I'm glad that you found this site, and I hope that it helps you as much as it's been helping me.

Welcome SmFry, I have a friend who has had similar experiences--tried different meds, gone to different doctors, and he's still struggling. Were you ever able to establish any continuity of care? Did you, for example, visit a psychiatrist every two months for a year or so? Did you stick with your meds? In my case, I also went through several medications over a long, ten year period. Now, I think I've finally found a combination that works, but I always remain cautious. I encourage you to work through the program and to use the community forums. Both help me come to terms with my "condition".

Just signed up today. I have been battling depression for about 9 years, have been on all kinds of medication, have been to psychologists, psychiatrists, therapists, tried herbal remedies, and am just about fed up. I feel let down by doctors and insurance companies. All I want is to feel better. I figured this approach couldn't hurt, but possibly help.
