:p I love this thread! I thought we were the only people in the world who used games as a distraction.
It's funny ... Shell knows what's going on with me by the game I have up on the computer. If it's solitaire, I'm puzzling through something mentally and she leaves me alone. If it's one of the more intense games, she knows I'm hiding. If it's one of the simple games, she knows I'm just kind of hanging out.
Shell has her PS2 and finds it not only distracts her mentally, but helps distract from physical pain as well.
I guess redirecting our minds in any way possible does work. Sometimes, for me, it's mostly a matter of stopping the "squirrel cage" chatter in my head and calming down.
hi
you know I bought some kiddie books from quebec loisirs and I got that "free" gift for spending too much.
well the book is a little collection of word puzzles, sudoko, and some alphabet games -okay in french- but this gives me an excuse to play with my husband. He is really good at them even if it is not a passtime he would do alone. only if me or Tiger were to ask.
Hey, I got my husband a cd - so someone you love is depressed. I will try to get him to listen to it. maybe it will help him see that there are days where there is no solution -only hugs and caring help-.
good night
So far, I usually play "Puzzle Quest". It's a role-playing game where even if I lose a puzzle-battle, I still at least get some gold coins, so I don't really "lose", and I can turn it off and come back to it later at the same level. I have a "Crash Bandicoot" game, but so far I'm content playing the puzzle one. Maybe I should drag it out this morning, since I'm having a rough one.
Hi kera,
my husband and son share a ps2 and the computer. there is always some sort of game going and I am right behind them asking questions... my son has found a strategie game of pokemon on the net and I ask him about what he does to "train" and improve his little things.. I used to like tetris! but now I am into sudoku. It is a very good way for me to focus outside. And, because I love the games, I am able to focus when I begin to slide.
what are your favorite games?
OK, I am 37 years old. So this is a bit different...
My Nintendo DS helps me. My daughters both have one. I was never the video game playing type for the most part, but the graphics are really good, and I was a bit envious, so I got myself one. When my brain is chasing itself in circles I just put on Puzzle Quest and my brain gets a little rest because it can just center on that. I use it when I'm in a situation where I think I may start on the depressive path.
