remeron/Mirtazapine-Help!

Hi Star--Yes, I gained weight with the Remeron too--it really increased my appetite, but at that point I was so fed up with being depressed and scared (almost constant anxiety attacks and insomnia) that I just didn't care. For me, the weight gain was worth it.

Cadge, Did you know that you can go to your local pharmacy and ask your pharmacist for this information. They may also be able to print out this information for you so that if needed in the future it is readily available for you. Hope this helps, Melanie _____________________________________ The Depression Center Support Team

Star, I just started on Remeron on Friday. I was wondering since your post was a few weeks ago, how it is working for you? momofthree

Hi Starr, I just got back online this week from computer problems or I would have responded sooner. I was on Remeron for a while and it really helped me. I have major, major, anxiety and panic issues along with my depression and I was always on "red alert", expecting the worst to happen. It didn't help that I had a high-pressure job then. By the time I got help, that state of high alert had become so normal for me that getting more relaxed actually could bring on a panic attack because my body was so unused to being relaxed it interpreted relaxation as a threat. Remereron got me past that and enabled me to get used to feeling less hyper-aware. Everyone reacts a bit differently to meds, for me the Remeron was sedating and it made me feel a little groggy(which was what I needed then)if it makes you feel groggy I recommend having someone else do your driving. I was eventually able to switch to a less sedating antidepressant, but Remeron was very helpful when I needed it.
