Hey Gerry, What do you do when you're depressed? Do you sleep? TV? Eat? I just found out that my biological father suffers/ed from depression about five years ago, so I guess that makes me a candidate. . .whatever. I'm hear, typing, cause I'm sick of thinking to myself, and I don't want to talk to any of my old friends. In fact, it's so bad I haven't talked to one of my best friends in a year 1/2. She just left me a voicemail but I haven't found the time to call back, I'm not totally sure why.

Hi Gerry. Welcome to the group. When you find youself feeling down, you may notice that negative thoughts are easy to come by. Those are the thoughts to be challenged one at a time. If you were to say "stop" to yourself and turn the thought into something positive, such as "Yes I've had depression for 15 years, but I am able to function and manage each day, for instance, it gets you out of that place and you feel more comfortable. Try it. It takes time and practice to turn it around. In time though, things don't appear so gloomy. Keep in touch.
