Watching your garden grow

Blood meal is straight nitrogen but stinks and has to be worked in. Make manure tea by putting manure in a cloth bag or pillow case and soaking it in a bucket of water. Use the water.

I watered the back. Hostas seem like they're on steroids. Soaker hoses are really convenient. I think the flowers need some amendment, but I don't know if the cow manure is too strong. I don't really want to mix it in. I took a risk with some fertilizer, but hopefully it's far enough from the flowers, where I didn't mix it in. The nitrogen level is really low at .3/.12/.12.

Still mowing lawn. It got tall when My mower died and it took a week to get another.
Strawberries and raspberries need picking.

I was mowing lawn but got rained out. Ground is so dry it just sucks up the rain.

I did some light weeding and very light watering, as well as fertilizing, as we wait for some rain tomorrow. It felt good to do this, even though mom isn't here to enjoy it. I wanted to do more, but I bruised my knee, and want to give it a few days to heal. Something is chewing the corner of the garage, so I'm going to coat the exposed wood with lipstick, and then look for the guilty looking bird or critter with lipstick on their beak or lips. Then I'll coat it with something tart like vinegar, to deter further chewing.

Thanks for thinking of me Davit. I do have a garden, and I'm feeling overwhelmed with all the stuff I'd like to do-there and elsewhere. To reframe this, I try to see myself as being at a huge buffet table, and don't know where to begin enjoying. It's not working today, as I try to figure out why the phlox are so much less productive, and the peonies are so much similar, although I added fertilizer(without water, and I really want it to rain, since I want to rest by banged-up knee). I toured a famous cemetery today, and maybe the heat got to me. What was wonderful was someone actually spoke to me, and I felt good about it, but the air quality was so poor. I just miss mom, and feel out of it, because I guess I wanted her to be at that buffet table. What is nice was that I look forward to choosing flowers, arranging them in my head from the garden, for the cemetery. I'm treating myself to some fresh baked bread in an hour, as a reward, since I think I forget to reward myself. What I've learned from dad's death, is that I found passion in life, eventually, so losing mom will be similar. She was so gracious. As cliché as it may seem, I've learned what that expression means about not knowing what you had, until you lose it. Even your absence here, has been substantial, Davit. It's just that mom can't come back.

Hugs

Do you have  a garden this year?  I was thinking about you when I was taking thistles out by the pole beans.

It is so dry this year. I'm watering every day. My pump got hot today and kicked off.

The Sweet Peas that we planted by seed last summer are coming up!
I loved growing sweet peas with my Grandfather when I was a kid..

Now that is happy memory worth remembering..
Makes me feel like a happy kid all over again.
