What is most important is how you feel. How you feel decides how you handle set backs and more important how they affect you. Slowly expand your comfort zone and feel good about the accomplishment, even if it is small. The important thing is that you are trying.

Drove around the parking lot today without a support person. It was my goal to make it to the road this week, but lack of an actual support person has become an issue, so I am going to slow myself down and take smaller steps by myself as suggested here. I am doing really good with the relaxation breathing, the muscle relaxation, and the voice audios I listen to nightly. I had my grandchildren overnight for first time in a long time and all went well so that is great progress. :) I feel better a little more each day and am learning I will have to face setbacks in order to move forward.

Like Davit suggested take your time with it and little steps are best..It's better not to hurry through it anyway..
This way it will give you a chance to adjust and in time you will find that the next time it will be a little easier and you will find that you are dong it with ease and ready to move on to the next step..

Remember, exposure is a tool only. A marker of how well you have progressed, you can't fail it. If you think you scored too low then you have to look at where and work on that area. It could be the trigger or it could be the reaction. The important thing is not to push it like you have to. because you don't.  Stop the exposure when it gets uncomfortable and look at why it got uncomfortable. That is the point that needs to be fixed. It takes time and little steps, but every success is a marker that you can do this.

Exposure therapy has been discussed in the books I have read and noticed it is next in the program. I can admit, I haven't progressed in exposure therapy from that day, I haven't had a support person nearby. I know from the books I've read, I'll have to face it alone at some point. It will be nice to accomplish this and is something I want to do. I'm starting the exposure section in the program tomorrow. I'm not giving up. I like how I felt really good that day about accomplishing one step towards overcoming one of my fears.

Thank you both Red1 and Davit! My Goal for the next 7 days is to actually drive on the road. I want to do this. I felt so much freedom last night, it's exhilarating for a change.

Congratulations. You have a success in memory to build on. You can do anything you want to if you really want to and if you really believe it. 

You have made for me what was a crappy day a good day and for this I thank you.
