My Intro

Lissy

Hiya!  .... Well how are things going for you today? I have no idea what 'hershey kisses' are but it all sounds rather exotic to me ... and for sure, they have got to have more appeal than munching on a carrot or sucking an ice cube!!

The craaaaaaaavvings!!! ... The craaaaaaavings ... The craaaaaaavings!!!!! .... Yes ... I totally agree with you 'the cravings' are VERY hard and it is exhausting trying to resist them.   You may even find yourself doing 'strange' things in order to resist 'the cravings' ... so far, I have shouted at ice cream then splattered the wafer into the ice cream as its punishment for being to freakin soft!!!!  I have shouted at the computer/T.V/hairdryer/ and anything else that moves or makes any sort of noise ... children, husbands and animals ARE included in this package!! I have cried SO much, I have moaned and whimpered in pathetic desperation.  I have watched hours and hours of crap TV, I have went to bed early so often that I am getting bed sores, I have played word puzzles ... How OLD am I???  ... I have eaten fruit  and I have even walked (a lot) .... I seemed to have morphed into this unfamiliar, rather eccentric, unsociable, obsessional and ever so slightly bad tempered 'old' woman ... but I fully anticipate that once I get myself over the worst of this withdrawal ... I shall blossom into a healthy, sweet smelling, sociable and mild mannered 'young' woman

If you are a married woman ... you might find this tip helpful.  One of the ways I can cope with my cravings is that when I feel a craving nagging at me .... I just try to pretend that it is the same as my husband talking to me about his work ... that way I can just let my eyes glaze over ...  flick my brain on to 'pause' ... paint a smile on my face  ...and then just grit my teeth and wait until it is over!

Seriously ... Keep at it  and let us know how you are doing

Won a day !

Breather

Vent to your hearts content ... I didn't take it personally ... I am too stupid to be sensitive!  I was around at the weekend but no one was posting, I thought maybe you'd all agreed to go on strike without me!!

I am sorry to hear that your weekend was not an easy one for you ... but remember there are people lurking here quietly in the background if you ever do need a friend ... just holler x

Take care Breather.

Question

Oooh! .. I can see how this works, it's the what came first argument ... the chicken or the egg??  For me, cutting down just didn't work - because my addiction was/is so much stronger than my healf hearted willpower - it has to be all or nothing for me  ... but even with my whole hearted willpower thrown into the mix ... this is STILL a tough old struggle.

As for you 4th time ... you are cutting down right?  you have been smoking less and less as the days are ticking by right? you are preparing yourself both physically and psychologically for this quit on the 1st October? ... and you fully intend to quit on this date dont you?  .... Well, try not too worry too much about 'rewarding' yourself with the cigarette - the 1st October will put paid to all of that and what you will have done is kick started your willpower in advance of this ... you ARE waiting extra time before having the smoke ... that takes willpower ... and it is your extra willpower that is your reward ... not the cigarette.

Try not to be hard too on yourself before you have even started - you are heading the the right direction .... congratulate yourself for this ... you deserve it!!  You are doing everything you can to prepare yourself ... and your quit is YOUR quit, you have to do what works for YOU.

It makes no difference what road you take ...  or how much baggage you bring along ... it does not matter how far you travel .... and nobody will care how many times you have passed this way before ... the only important thing is .... just to make sure that you get there in the end.

Keep at it

Lil x

wee glimmer ?o hope.

Hullo ... was thinking about you over the weekend ... Great to see you with 3 ... no that will be 4 days now clocked up ... you made it through the weekend ... wot a guy!!

I am doing a bit of cold turkey now ... for the last three days.  Got a bit p***ed off with the constant stressing about whether or not I was getting too much or not enough nicotine into my system ... so I just threw in the towel and gave it up as a bad job.  My husband and kids are still hiding in the garden shed, the dog has run away, I have very little hair left on my head and my fingernails have all but disappeared ... other than that ... it's all good!

What about you?  how are things going?

As for Ashley (well .. all the 'Educators') I have answered their questions before, as good manners usually ensures that I at least try to do this ... but to be honest ... it is a bit of a busmans holiday for me ... only usually it is me who is the one asking the questions ... I dont feel so comfortable being on the receiving end ... it is simply a bit of a control issue!!   ...

But it is a fair point .... maybe we should ALL try answering the 'Educators' questions a bit more ... it cant do any harm ... can it???

Speak to you soon Mister

Cheers for that ... it is much appreciated.  This has just GOT to be my last quit ... not sure I have the energy to keep repeating these first few days. It is like hitting your head off a wall ... taking a pain killer ... and then hitting your head off the wall again!

Nine hundred and ninety two days on your quit ... ahh well ... they do say that it is the first 1000 days that are the hardest ... so you're getting there !!    (I'll be joining you in around 2 and a half years time ... so get the kettle on!)

Great to see an oldie (but a goodie)

Let the battle commence!!

Tis a strange thing indeed ... almost two weeks into this God awful quit, the last four days have been cold turkey and it is only now that the 'cravings' really moved up a gear ... they were pretty full on today but in a strangely subtle kind of way ... kinda like they were  just trying to mingle in with the day, all casual like as they approached ... y'know how it is ... you are sitting chatting and you automatically reach out for your smokes or you make yourself a cup of coffee and you feel that old familiar churning in your stomach as you realise that you cant be having a smoke with this cuppa ... and then it body slams you and the doubting little whispers start dripping into your ear and infiltrating your thoughts ... weakening your resolve but in a sweet, nurturing way ...
"ahh! go on just have one, it will help take the edge off ... sure you can get right back to your quit ... who would know? ... and anyway ... as long as you smoke less that you did, then you are still doing some good ... Och! a wee smoke, go on, you know you want to ..."

NO!
