Thanks for the recount. I will cast my vote but I want to wait to see who else shows up. There are a few very new quitters who might be too preoccupied with getting their quit going to check in on this. We'll wrap it up in a day or 2 & see how it turns out.

I did not know there was any link between smoking & skin cancer. I had malignant melanoma in late 2003 & other than warning me that the graft might take longer to heal, none of my doctors said anything about that. I don't recall there being any info related to smoking in any of the literaure I was given either. Glad I quit anyway & that's just 1 more good reason.

I am so disorganized & forgetful without my old friend Ms. DuMaurier. There are actually 4 more votes for Mayflower. Penitent, whose idea it was & Carylene. Both May quiters, so it's Mayflowers 6, Mayors 3 & No Maybe's 2. Looks like we'll be the Mayflowers so far but we'll give it a little more time.

Oh, one day early. That's not such a big deal. Hope I didn't sound too sanctimonious in my earlier reply. From my last long quit with the patch, I remember the first few days having a few short, fleeting easy to deal with habit-type cravings after I stopped. No really bad ones, no crabbiness, it was pretty easy. I think it's because there is so much less nicotine in your system than if you were still smoking & you've had all that time to break the hand-mouth part of it.
I did have a really really itchy head for awhile :confuse: &!some weird dreams. Keep posting, good luck being nicotine free!

:confuse: :quest: So many people have said they had a hard time in airports, theatres, etc. where you can't smoke & can't easily go outside. Somebody ( sorry, I forget who. I'm still a little muddled) actually said they stopped flying & going to movies because of it. When I smoked, I had absolutely no problem not smoking when I couldn't. I didn't even go into the smoking lounges at airports because they stunk & were disgusting & often full of stinky, disgusting people. I could get through a reasonably long flight & certainly a movie without even thinking about it. BUT if the option to go outside was there (like a bar, at work, a restaurant, my final flight destination) I would be the first one out even if it was -35 & a blizzard. Also, even though I would smoke in the lee of a building or on the loading dock or whatever because the only option was outside, I was taught that it's "unladylike" to smoke on the street so I never smoked while walking, or standing on a sidewalk without some kind of alcove or doorway & I never missed it. So why couldn't I just NOT SMOKE??? A bit of a ramble, sorry, but even when I was smoking, I wondered about that. Any thoughts?
