These people are truly NUTS!

I am on a work-related trip to Washington D.C. and it started snowing this afternoon - THAT's how cold it is here. Keep in mind that I am from FLORIDA. I am not used to this kind of cold! AAAAAaaaaanyway... I'm rooming with my smoker/friend/co-worker and when we got here, *surprise!* we found out that the whole hotel is now non-smoking (DC finally passed their clean air act on January 1st!) so if she wants to smoke, she has to go outside. Outside. Out. As in: OUT in the freezing cold! And she goes! Amazingly, she is not alone. There is quite a large group of smokers at this event and they ALL go outside during every break. Just a few weeks ago, I would've been among the nuts myself. Whew! I'm so glad I quit when I did! BRRRRRRR!!!

Just one...

Hi mellers! Wise choice, to come here and "blog" out your crave! What you just went through - it actually doesn't get much worse than that. Cool, huh? Because if you can make it through THAT CRAVE, you can make it through the next one and the next one... Stay pissed off! Stay stubborn! It's not "giving up" something good, it's (like you said yourself) GAINING FREEDOM! You can do this!!!!

It's Official! I can never be around cig smoke again

I'm just a newbie myself but I disagree... in my book, WHATEVER it takes to quit is valid, as long as it works for the individual in question. "Have to" is just as valid as "want to," if it works. "Pissed off at tobacco companies" is valid, too, if it works. If it's keeping you quit, go for it. In my dream...

Last night I had a dream that I smoked. It was SO real, I could feel the heat of the smoke going down my throat, could feel the cloud of my exhale on its way back out. On the one hand, I was REALLY upset because I blew my quit, but on the other, I was calm and accepting. I sat there and smoked and considered what to do. I thought about lying about it or just not mentioning it, both online at this site and in real life and quickly discarded that option. No, as I drew in drag after drag of smoke into my lungs, I accepted that the one cigarette - just one! - had pulled me completely back in. I was officially unquit. I was a smoker again, just like that. No, rather than hiding it or lying, I figured I might as well just announce it to everyone, they're gonna know soon enough anyway. As for online, well, I made the decision never to log onto this site again. I would just quietly disappear. It's not like anyone would notice anyway. I woke up and it took me a full minute to convince myself that I hadn't actually smoked. OMG, it was just a dream. I was so relieved that I hadn't blown my quit, that I burst into tears. I've been an emotional wreck all day, every little thing has me tearing up and sniffling... and jonesing for a smoke, believe it or not. At four weeks, I guess I was due for this particular bump in the road, but ya'd think after my relief this morning that a smoke would be the last thing I'd want! Anyway, I rode my new bike to work today, that was fun. And a really good thing because all day long I've been offsetting these emotions with sweets. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 28 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 860 Amount Saved: $84 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 22 Mins: 51 Seconds: 0

Peperoncini Peppers...

LOL, whatever works! It'd probably work for me, but oh boyyyyy I'm not gonna try it. I'd be so busy screaming from the heartburn that I wouldn't notice a crave for sure! I miss the days when I had a cast-iron stomach, but they are LONG gone!

I'm so excited because I bought a bike!

My husband had to adjust the seat (up) for me and then I took my new bike out for a ride! It was great, and I was right -- it was really fun because I could breathe! Wooohoo I love this rewards thing! My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 27 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 834 Amount Saved: $81 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 20 Mins: 37 Seconds: 50

I'm so excited because I bought a bike!

I've been looking at this one particular bicycle for over a year and even though I stop and admire it about once a month, I've never actually told my husband, "Hey, I want that." The bike is very simple, just a coaster brake, and only $80. Last week I dragged him over to look at it and said, "Next weekend will be four weeks since we quit smoking. That's eight cartons of cigarettes we didn't buy, a hundred and sixty bucks we didn't spend. THIS is what I want to spend MY eighty bucks on." I especially want the bike as my reward for two reasons: 1) I'm definitely eating more, so I want the exercise and 2) I can breathe! I just know it's going to be fun to ride a bike again because I can breathe! Tonight we bought the bike. Woooohooo! I hope it's nice out tomorrow 'cause I'm going bike-riding! :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 26 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 809 Amount Saved: $78 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 18 Mins: 38 Seconds: 17
