Food, mmmmmmm, food...............

I think my problem is that the day I quit smoking, I told myself that I was allowed to indulge in any and all junk food because it was better than smoking (and because it was close to Christmas!) So essentially, I have replaced smoking with snacking and now that I am trying to quit snacking, I dont know what to DO with myself!! I constantly feel like I should be DOING something (with my hands and mouth anyway exercise is just not my thing!), which (prior to Dec 23 05) used to be go and have a smoke. I'm mostly just here to vent because I want to go to the store and buy junk-food... Grrrrrrrsnarrrrrrrrlgrrrrrrrrr.!!!!!!!! Does Your State provide this?

I just saw an ad the other day where whenver the guy inhaled, his veins became bluer and his skin became greyer...and every time he exhaled it slowly turned back to normal colour...the point of it was that as SOON as you quit, the ill-effects of smoking start to reduce. It was kinda gross to watch, but it had a good point and made me glad I don't smoke anymore... Food, mmmmmmm, food...............

I cant get enough!! Ive gained like 7 lbs+ since I quit smoking!! Instead of thinking about smoking all the time, all I think of is food...I want to snack ALL THE FREAKING TIME!!! If someone told me I had the choice of either eating junk food or smoking, and neither of them would have any affect on my health, Im pretty sure Id chose the food! Ive joined Weight Watchers online earlier this week, and am following the rules properly, but in my mind I am eating chocolate, salt & vinegar chips, popcorn smothered in butter, nachos and cheese, chocolate, fries, chicken fingers....Im horrible! How do I get my mind off the food? Im drinking water, chewing gum, eating healthy snacks between meals, making sure most carbs I consume are complex carbs... Maybe I need to join a food-cessation-group next!!!! Lucy :(

this is my third day and it very hard to cope with

You can do it - just keep choosing not to smoke for just 5 minutes, then another 5 minutes...drink water, chew gum/straws/candy/sunflower seeds, read old posts, check over your list of reasons to quit (or make one if you haven't already). Choose life. Breakers Tuesday

Morning all, Aunt Sissy - facial was great thanks...and i guess we're twins when it comes to replacing smoking with eating too! And i am also finding it difficult to stop all the snacking on junk that i have become used to! I haven't had much in the way of depression though, so i can't really help there... I had a really tough day yesterday. I found out i have pre-cancerous cells that i need to get burnt out. Came really close to stealing a smoke out of my mother's jacket, but i didn't...i just drank tea with her then cried and slept the rest of the day. I know it's not a HUGE deal, but it hit me really, really hard, and i had (am having) a tough time coping. Anyway, still here, still smoke-free.
