Still ? Cravings?

Lance-congrats on your keeping the quit.  That is amazing and it sounds like you have alot going on on top of it.  I think I mentioned this before, but seriously consider this book, google it if you want to see what its about.  The Easy Way to Quit Smoking by Allen Carr.  I am telling you it will help you change that mind frame of craving cigs. It really really helped me with my quit.  Just a thought.   You can probably rent it at your local library even, I know they had it at mine.

How many smokers do you have in your family?

Interesting thread.  My parents both smoke, my dad quit a few yrs ago and recently started back up.  My mom still smokes.  But none of my siblings ever smoked.  I started smoking when I was younger and would sneak them from my parents.  My parents own a grocery store so I would then get smokes from there and then the addiction began.  I remember being so embarrased that my parents smoked when I was growing up.  I wont do that to my daughter.

Just miss it!

I know the feeling, I have felt it in the past too.  But with this quit I dont miss it, because I realize now what i was missing was a nasty ADDICTION.  Not a habit, because it really isnt a habit, its an addiction.  It raises our blood pressure, hardens our arteries, makes us smell nasty, rots our mouth and so on.  So think of this when you think about missing it.  Smoking is just an a nasty addiction.  And the reason why we continue to smoke is because once we stop we begin going through actual withdrawals.  So hang in there, the withdrawals will pass and it does take time.  Exercise, drink water and stay positive. You are doing great and it will get easier!!!

I just survived a week of holiday guests that smoke

So my family all leaves tomorrow to go home and it was an eye opening week.  My parents both smoke and they have been here all week.  I am so happy to say I am a non smoker and to have not missed one minute of anything because I had to have a smoke break or go outside to smoke this year.  I could smell them when they came in after smoking, yuck!!  And I realized how much of a smokers day is wasted smoking.  SO happy I made it through the week and saw the benefits of not smoking.

New Years Eve and the temptation

NYE was a tough night for me.  I was out having many cocktails with friends and found myself standing outside with a friend asking her for one of her cigarettes.  In my drunken stupor I actually picked it up got ready to light it up and realized what I was doing.  How scary was that?  I threw it on the ground and literally took a step back and she asked me if I was ok and I told her I had quit and didnt even realize what I was doing.  So thankfully I am still a non smoker and luckily something or someone stopped me from smoking that cigarette.  Lesson to be learned, don't drink that much again.

My Quit Date: 10/24/2009
Smoke-Free Days: 72
Cigarettes Not Smoked: 720
