I reckon a good thread would be for all QUITTERS to find there

Yes! It is sooooo hard to believe when it seems like every nerve you have is raw, and every "feeling" is ten times worse than normal.... but I will admit it's hard but with time and patience and understanding the addiction, it can be overcome! Just don't give in! Searching for reasons.... excuses?

I quit smoking on 2/14/02, not easy at all... my father passed away when I was on my way to his beside on 4/4/05... I had to plan his funeral while my mother and her sister smoked non-stop.... If I were to smoke a single deathstick right now I know that I would be back up to two packs a day within a day or two.... My point..... I know that I'm an addict... I know that I cannot smoke, no matter what.... It's a matter of control over oneself..... no matter what! Don't let the addiction control you! How many times?...............

kristilu ~ It's never easy, no matter if it's your first time trying to quit or your seventh..... Sometimes it's a matter of telling yourself 'NO' when you want to slip. After almost 6 years being smokefree I can still at times want to smoke, but you know what??? I know that I cannot smoke, no matter what. Not one! That's a part of the quit, knowing that you cannot give in, do not allow yourself to give in... after 5 minutes the crave is gone, so wait it out till the next one, and then each crave will become farther and farther apart! I spent a lot of my time in the bathtub the first couple of weeks (Nov. 2002 Hall of Fame), and boy did it help!!! My daughters will never forget the he11 I put them through when I quit smoking, but they'll also say that they are very happy and proud that I did! Do this for yourself first, then for your loved ones (because they WILL remember!)
