Hello all. I've done some reading through this site, and I think I may be suffering from panic attacks. I find that when I'm in class or doing group projects with people, I can't concentrate, I feel real tense, it's beginning to effecting my marks. I haven't talked to a doctor yet, I'm skeptical as to what he could do. Does anybody have an advice? Similar experience?

I guess it's the guy coming out of me, if it doesn't hurt physically, I'm fine :) I'm in college, not highschool, not sure if that matters. I took the test, and actually got a report, which I suppose means theres a chance I have some issues. If I were to bring this to a doctor, would I have to find a specialist, or can I just go to my family doctor?

I'm in year 2 of a three year technology course. I guess as a person of logic, it's tough for me to think about how this is treatable, or that it could be a problem, probably ignorance. I have all these questions now, I will look up that book you mentioned in the library. I have set up an appointment with my doctor for tomorrow, I'll be sure to let everyone here know how it goes. My only problem now I suppose, is what if I get a prescription, will the medication affect me? What I mean is, will I have a harder time with school work, or will it actually help? I suppose this is another question for my doctor. Thanks again everyone for your help. I'll definitely be back.

Missed Appointment - Another Question

Good morning, I unfortunately had to miss my scheduled appointment with my doctor yesterday, I had totally forgot about a test I had for the same time. Was hoping to get that over with since I had the nerve up, now my appointment is middle of next week. Gives me more time to read up on this more though (I like reading). I have another question though, I have exams coming up soon (not quite soon, but soon enough!), and was wondering if there were any tips on dealing with this, I get this overpowering sensation when I'm in the exam rooms that totally blocks out anything I've learned all year, it's really tough to take tests. Are the tricks to alleviate this? Anyone else have a similar problem? Thanks again for all your help, it's been most refreshing.

Missed Appointment - Another Question

I don't have medication, so unfortunately, I can't use that for help. This feeling I get is all I've ever known, so it's normal for me, I've only recently found it that perhaps it could be easier or better. As for my knowledge of the material, I'm pretty confident when it comes to that. I think if I could take the test in my apartment, I would ace them, but being around all my other classmates and teacher, I just get overwhelmed.

Missed Appointment - Another Question

Visualization and Relaxation, both foreign topics to me :( What are you secrets? Should these be done just prior to situations where I seem to have these weird feelings, or should these be done on a regular basis?

Missed Appointment - Another Question

I apologize for being rude, and not returning for a little while, life is crazy, of course, that's always the excuse! Red, that is exactly what I needed to know, what I want to do now, is try this out. I could not have picked a better time to read that, I have an hour before I leave for my next class, I am going to try this out, and I will let you know how class was when I get back. Thanks again, I hope this helps!

Relaxation Techniques: Wow!

I had my doubts about Reds suggestions working, and at first they didn't. But I was persistant all last week, and I think by the end of the week, it was making a bit of a difference. I probably have a long way to go, and perhaps, with the better I get at the relaxation, along with some suggestions/help I hope to get from my doctor, things can be better. You can't believe how excited I am about this prospect! I must thank everyone for the help!

My name is Belle... Please..help me

Hi Belle, I am new to this group too. In fact I just signed up. I wanted to tell you that I understand exactly how you are feeling! This "thing" comes along and seemingly takes control of your whole life and before you know it you're taking all kinds of drugs and feeling like ur whole life is one giant "Panic Attack". This is what I think you should know. You are not alone in this. Do you understand me? I promise you that this too will pass. You will find a way to fight this and so will I. I think the first thing we have to do is accept the simple fact that it's happening. That doesn't mean we have to accept the "reasons why" it is. Just that we have a problem that we have to face and there's no way we're going to get thru it unless we acknowledge it's there. Here's my theory: This could be hormones. There is no doubt that studies have shown a strong correlation between hormone imbalances (low or high) and PD. I think we should be checked for this first. I feel too many women and men alike are told immediately without hesitation that they need to be on SSRI's, Benzodiazepines or any other drug they can stuff down our throats to get us out of their hair. The fact is...they don't know. Some people do show signs of improvement with these medications though so i'm not saying they don't work. I am saying however, that there can be other indicators of a biological nature that can cause people to have these things. Now lets say we do find out our hormones are "off" in some way, now what do we do? Especially when some women get told that this has nothing to do with their recent arrival of "panic attacks". I think there is alot we can do. We can research this topic everywhere possible and do our best to find an appropriate and healthy approach to it. For example there are many natural things we can do to increase support of our endocrine systems such as supplements and special formulas derived by health food experts such as NONI juice, Vitex ect. These things are not hormone replacements but rather help to regulate your already existing hormone levels to a healthy balance. They may not work for everyone, but maybe some of us would get a positive effect from it. Here is my personal suggestion in regard to those attacks, when you feel one co
