I am starting January 2nd

Hi Donna, Welcome. You know what to expect from a quit since you did it before. Be prepared learn from past experience and hang out here A LOT ! The weight gain thing does not neccesarily happen. I have actually lost a bit of weight since I quit, just due to being aware of what I was eating and taking soimne light excercise. But most importantly if you do happen to gain a few pounds dont stress and dont wory about it. Deal with one thing at a time. You will find once you have quit that you want to do something with this sudden fitness that has been thrust upon you. Be strong and do it for you. i'm quitting monday

Hi Suzers, Welcome to the SSC. It really is great to have you here with us. It sounds as though you are preparing yourself well, which is very important. I wouldn't recommend that you try to cut down before your quit, it just makes life tougher, and can scare you out of a quit, by turning you into a clock watcher just waiting for your next cigarette. I decided to quit cold turkey and I must admit it has worked well for me. I have tried all sorts of other methods in the past, and they all worked too....until I started smoking again. The main thing is your personal resolve to quit. Without it You are sunk before you start. To me it sounds as though you are ready for it. I wish you luck. Be strong and never hesitate to come here to read, to let off some steam or just fill in some time. We understand and we can help. Be Stong ! I'm off the the (real) beach

Tomorrow the Family and I take of on our annual summer holiday. We will be spending two weeks at Waihi beach where we just relax, coz that is about all there is to do !! While I am at the (real) beach I will also be reaching the SSC beach ! My 100th day will be spent on Holiday !! yes I have a special reward in store to mark the occasion. There is a beautiful hiking track through native bush and along beaches which have no other access. I have always hesitated to tackle these hikes because of my smoking and related lack of fitness and stamina !!! This year is different !! I will be celebrating my 100th day by spending it by myself exploring the bush and beaches !!! I Cant wait ! In the meantime I would like to thank you all for your support and wish every single one of you a very happy new year. may it be smoke free for us all. I expect to see that you have all survived those new year parties, and are still here helping all of the "resolution" newbies. Please Take care and I will be back in two weeks time. Merry Christmas...I'm miserable

HI Livnadrm2, As i read your posy I could feel your pain and anguish. I know, as we all know what you are going through and how you are feeling. I quit cold turkey, and figured that I wanted to get the worst of the withdrawal symptoms out of the way fast and then get on with it. So far so good. The first 3 days are awful, but you are ghetting through them. it does get easier. You are doing the right things, by keeping yourself busy and distracting youself. Please think about changing your routines too. Sit in a different place, drive to work a different route, answer the phone with the "other" hand. This has the effect that you know that things are different and it is NOT JUST that you have stopped smoking. I found this really helped duriong the first couple of weeks. I wish you all the very best. It is not easy, but then again the good things never are! be strong and come here often. Spend all day here if you have to ! we understand and we care. Just reach out... all the best Kiwikeith My Milage: My Quit Date: 9/29/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 88 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,203 Amount Saved: $1020.8 Life Gained: Days: 13 Hrs: 2 Mins: 12 Seconds: 25
