Hi,
I came across this site through a boarderline personality disorder site. I have struggled with depression for many years but have never tried a structured cbt program. I take a high dose of Effexor and have been on it for about three years. It makes my depression manageable but I still struggle. I am frustrated.

Perhaps you could provide him with some information about depression and anxiety or include him in a meeting with your doctor? It may help if he hears it from a professional. There are also support groups for family members. Do you have a NAMI (national alliance for the mentally ill) group in your area?
All the best, I know it's hard.

I want to start tracking more carefully my diet and exercise to see how it relates to my moods. By doing this I also enjoy a feeling of control :) I also want to look at sleep/wake patterns as I struggle with sleeping during the day and waking during the night.

I have been struggling with depression all my life. Two years ago I was diagnosed with BPD after being suicidal for quite a few months. I understand that depression and bpd are closely related...

I am in week two now and I love the activity scheduling and goal setting. I am a list maker anyway and I love to journal. So far this program is working very well for me. I am really into it.
I guess my question is about the effectiveness of meds for treating bpd related depression. I am treated by my GP and he does not have a good understanding of bpd at all :( or depression for that matter. Grrrrr. Here in rural Ontario it is very difficult to get a doctor these days, nevermind a good doctor.

I am so sorry for the abuse you have suffered. I just want to remind you that it is not your fault and I hope you can overcome the feeling of shame. It really was not your fault and I hope you know that in your heart. What he did was a crime! I hope you can speak honestly to your doctor about what has happened. Maybe you could get access to counselling and support groups.
I am outraged that your family didnt believe you, but that is all too common a response...
I am very happy that you are going to get help. Maybe since you have access to the internet you could do some searches on womens rights and abuse...
Best of luck with your studies!
I have found the exercises in the program very practical and maybe since you are a hands on type of guy you may like it.
Like you said, desperate times call for desperate measures. If you give it a chance you just might get somewhere :) which is better than nowhere.

Hi,
I am in Ottawa. Have you had any luck navigating the Ontario Health System? I am on a 4 month long waiting list for therapy :( I feel pretty pessimistic about it.
