I'm new to posting here... Not sure what you say on a first time hello...
I joined because I have suffered from anxiety for a long time and I haven't left my house in 3 years so was hoping this could help me work towards overcoming it.
Yeah it feels a little like that :) Thanks for the welcome - Well I hope to achieve in the long run to go out without freaking out and getting all anxious and panicky.
I had a shrunk when I first was not able to do all he suggested as I was caring for my mum at the time and my cat had just died with made everything worse. Things that have helped since a little with my anxiety when I'm alone at home. is playing music, writing, petting my two cats or just anything that pulls me from thinking and feeling like I will have a heart attack. I also tried meditation to see myself outside without really being there and take rescue remedy. Also planning the routes I would take and days I would take them on (that one didn't work all that well)
I have also started getting my sister to go with me to a cafe down the road at 8 am once a week to try and get over the fear of being away from home and around other people, but its very stressful going.
That's great like taking control of them things make your mind feel clearer and in control. :)
I agree it can work I think you can change your thoughts and move them around like moving things in the house. I often imagine two boxes one for the good thoughts and the other for the not so good ones. it can work outwardly too like taking a jar with a lid and writing your worry down and putting them inside and you're only aloud to think/ worry on them if the paper is out of the jar so if you do then you have to go take it out and when the worry sorted you burn or tear up the paper so it's no more.
Your post also got me thinking of things writers do to write like light candles the smell a certian way or sit in a certian room it switches there brains into the mood for it. I think that can be aplyed to thoughts too.
Thank-you for the welcome- I'm glad I found you too..
The program and fourm sound really helpful. I already feel like the first part made me change my thoughts in some ways already. I know its going to take a lot of work but I think I need to give it a go I can't fail any worse than I have over the last five years I guess. I'm glad this program is here as I asked my GP for CBT and the lady that visited me from the health place said what was the point now as it been 3 plus years. I sometimes wonder it myself as because of the negaitive feeling of being outside makes me not miss going out. But then I think I want to be-able to not be scared and walk the dog.
Does the program have a time limit like after x amount of weeks it ends and you get booted out or can you take it at your own paces?
I normal write the numbers down so if they call again I know I missed that number and am ready to ask who they are? Or who they want? Some times I even write down what I would say if I was going to call the number back so I don't get worried.
Are you thinking of xdriecty online? I think that's where you look up numbers.
