Hello, I quit smoking about 2-3 months ago. I'm posting this to introduce myself, as well as tell you about my journey to quitting. I started smoking cigarettes when I was around 21, I quit off and on and then started smoking heavily again when I was about 26.
At my most I was smoking a pack a day. It started taking a toll on my health and I was having very bad acid reflux/heartburn, so I decided I would quit. I tried many times to either curb my smoking habit(cut back) or completely quit. I tried the gum, patch(which wouldn't stick), welbutrin, and electronic cigarettes. Finally when I was super desperate here is what helped me, and it might help you, too. Prayer and weaning myself off nicotine slowly was the only thing that finally worked.
I bought a vape pen from a local vape shop. It worked better than an e-cig because I was able to puff on it for a lot longer. Anyway, I went from puffing all day on 30mL/6mg all the way to 30mL/0mg. So basically I went down slowly on the e-liquid nicotine dose till I was finally able to quit. I highly recommend this method of quitting because it was the only thing that worked for me. Once you get past the 3 day mark on 0mg of nicotine, you should be golden. The main take away is that puffing on 0mg of e-liquid still feels like you're smoking, and I do think it breaks the association between the action and the feeling. You fool your body into thinking you're smoking when you're really not. :--)
I also wanted to mention that I don't vape or smoke any more. Why waste my money when I don't crave it, right?
