3 days and counting...

Managed to be FREE for 72 hours. Stuck through the cravings, headaches, irritation.. now heading to the weekend. This will be interesting, excruciating. Have quit 6 times since December of 2011 with quit times ranging between 12 hours to 8 weeks but somehow go back to it . So this time I an actually gonna post to a forum to see if the quit can keep going. I cant beleive i quit for 3 years before i fell off the wagon.. Ah well the fight goes on..

Hi I?m new here!

welcome onboard. Here I am after multiple attempts of trying to do it myself and finally decided to get to SSC to get some support. Trying to climb this mountain alone is hard.. and a few words of encouragement goes a long way especially from a bunch of ex-smokers who have done it!!!!

Good luck on the quit.. That you are thinking about it and talking about it is a step in the right direction..

Nicotine free Friday and Saturday... yahoooooooooooo.
Remain strong today; would have conquered one small hill. Will be tired; exhausted but will be worth the "aha" moment end of the day after this round of fighting with the addiction.

As I was thinking I realize SSC must have a new motto:

You can do it..We can help

The forum certainly helps to keep the quit going.

What if?

N.O.P.E --> there is a pledge I can remember and adhere to.

I will not smoke today..

Look at  some of the quit meters.. I can do this too.. I will not smoke today.

3 days and counting...

Let me see:

1. Yelled at the Mrs and Junior a couple of times and ofcourse apologized
2. Got on a bike with Junior and rode about 7 miles that helped take the stress out
3. Took a bunch of kids to a local water recreation center and a birthday party at a bowling alley

Crammed with a lot of activity so that I didnt have to think about that thing ( I have decided not to take its name anymore)

But in the end survived the weekend; although was exhausted by Sunday night. Spent a couple of hours on this site and another one that I frequent for "education on quit"

Thanks for the support folks.

Thanks willisv56 for the support.

Surprisingly today has been I would say worse than yesterday. The cravings are frequent and strong.. Spent a lot of time on SSC and other education sites. Lots of cranberry juice; walking in 100 degree weather. I took the support forum's advice lots of cold ice water. That helped.. this will be an exhausting day.

What if?

That's the scary thing about this addiction. Look at willsv56 Quit Meter and he takes the pledge N.O.P.E even today.

I finally admit to it. The Pledge has to be taken every day.

What if?

You are right F3. I take the pledge each day and congratulate myself each night for achieving my very worthwhile goal. But don't be scared ! I renew my committment each day but my day is not consumed fighting cigarettes, quite the contrary !  I rarely if ever think about cigarettes as I go about my life. I lead a much calmer and more satisfying life.
But I dare not forget that I am a drug addict and always will be but as long as I keep nicotine outside my body that addiction will forever be arrested but one little puff will send me right back where I was was many months ago. I'm not going there Freethree. N.O.P.E. not gonna go there !
I realize from willisv56 post. This is where I want to be..That must be a wonderful place to be. Thanks Mr W.
