so i've smoked all my life - it's been 3 days.....

I decided on thursday - 2/7/08 that i was 'done' with smoking. i will be 50 in July - and have smoked my whole life - i smoked in the womb as my mom smoked when she was pregnant with me...so although i wasn't able to grasp the marlboro...it was there - waiting. I have not had a cigarette -not a puff - nothing - since thursday night. i have cried 3 times during the weekend - i am determined to make it...i am not using anything but my own will to live - no patches, no gum...but i feel sad and lonely - like i lost a best friend.hmmpf. thank you so much Goofy....i really appreciate the support...106 days for you! you must be proud. i would love to think i can see that far ahead but i can't...i am already concerned about the cigarette after work when walking to the bus and then the one after dinner..and when the phone rings and the wind blows... so i've smoked all my life - it's been 3 days.....

hi there! i am okay today...thanks. i was surprised that i woke up and didn't think about a cigarette...last night was tough...i think the evenings -when i get home from work, will be the tough times..need to find other ways to relax...i am also a tad envious of those using patches and gum or lozenges...this cold turkey thing is not as much fun as i hoped ;) the support from all of you is amazing...and when i feel like i need to walk downstairs and stand on the street like one of those needy new yorkers (like i was 5 days earlier)i check out this website and i am over it. cannot thank you all enough. hmmm....i was a marlboro woman for a long time....would smoke in a snowstorm and use my last chash if need be...nothing to be proud of for sure...329 days is impressive...do you still miss it? *and if you can remember back to the early days...do you remember not being able to finish sentences? i am dropping things and my emails look strange like i forgot to to spell....and everything is loud...why is everyone so loud (i know i am in new york city but it's extra loud) and one more question...when you first stopped, did it seem like the whole world was smoking? where were all these people last week when i couldn't find a match???????? so i've smoked all my life - it's been 3 days.....

into Day #6....do not miss the morning cigs anymore...just the after meals and 'unwind at home ones'. did about 10 minutes of crying last night but i was also on a bus for almost 3 hours in new york city traffic so maybe i would have sobbed anyway? who knows. i notice that my co-workers lunches are a bit more smelly than before but maybe that's because i don't smell like smoke...my family is very supportive and so are all of you. i am proud of how well i am doing and literally am getting through each hour one by one. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/7/2008 Smoke-Free Days: 6 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 180 Amount Saved: $76.50 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 17 Mins: 37 Seconds: 28

Ouch ? that really took a toll

today is my 7th day...i wondered about the cig smell and if - one day - it won't smell so tempting....i was better a few days ago - today seems more difficult. i am trying to find ways to congratulate my senses - i put on perfume and used my daughter's berry shampoo...must admit that when i walked by the new york city smokers huddled in front of their buildings at lunchtime, i was envious. but when i got home and saw one of those guilt-inducing commericals..i was proud of my cold-turkey self. tomorrow will be day #8 and i can get there. yup. not one puff ever. LET ME GET ME STRAIGHT - TO HELL AND BACK

please don't do it. take a bubble bath. a frozen grape. organize some bookshelves or take a walk. clean out a closet...make a list of all the ingredients you need for something really cool and then go to the store and buy it all. put on some old music and make the recipe....eat it by yourself. repeat everything if you must but do not light up. you are stronger than you think....40 days is impressive...i am only on 8.....*you are already a non-smoker. why would a non-smoker light a cigarette in times like this? please don't do it. good luck. Bragging

congratulations! hope it will be me one day. i am on day #18 and it is getting easier and easier...there are some cigs i do not miss at all - and the ones i still wish i had - i wish i had less now. my family has been very supportive and when i start to 'lose it' and someone gets peeved, i have to remind him/her that i am not used to the whole non-smoking thing yet...usually the reply is "oh, wow, that's right...i forgot since you're doing so well" hmmpf. it is the toughest smart thing i have ever done. have gone to book store only twice so far...but see many more in my future.
