In Quebec we have Bougex.com. It is all about activities club. I think they have like 15 000 different clubs, even people who like to picnic on the mountain. I have joined the one for people who sails but it is 5-7 in a bar.:-(

I found I had to make new friends and find activities that didn't centre around drinking.  So I joined meetup.com   It's definitely not a dating site, it's a place where you can find groups for almost any interest, formed by people who also want to meet new people.   Through it, I found a book club, a bowling league, a mediation group, and a purely social group that meets at inexpensive resaurants.    It's a lot of fun really.

Most major cities, have meetup sites, I believe.

Members,

A lot of ex-heavy drinkers have a hard time adjusting to their new alcohol-free/reduced life.  They find it hard to socialize with their old friends and frequent their old hang-outs. Let’s hear some tips or techniques that have helped you settle in to your new lifestyle.
