30 minutes in 3 weeks...

Audrey, That is great. The major soreness will go away. The first couple times I ran for twenty minutes or longer, my thighs killed. After that I could hardly walk up and down the stairs in my house. It gets much easier though. Make sure to stretch ALOT at the end of your walk/run. I am excitied for you. I think this is a great way to reinforce the positive benifits of not smoking. Keep me posted on your progress. Jeni, I just started yesterday. I am so sore today. 20 minutes...walk 1st 5, run as long as you can, walk until you can run again, etc. Will do it again Thurs and Sunday. Bought a timer today b/c other regimens actually say how long to to run and walk and I want to know how I am doing. Maybe I pushed too far yesterday. I am SO excited! I did it! Only once but I ran three miles yesterday and feel great. I could have never done that when I was smoking. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/28/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 26 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 520 Amount Saved: $143.00 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 4 Mins: 28 Seconds: 6

I am not a runner, but proud you guys. I walk and do a 30 minute work three times a week at place for women. I found a web site where I post my eating and cardio. This has really helped me stay in line with this quit. John, I am going to have to keep my kitten away from you when I get one. It looks like you have matured a little since you gave up smoking :eg: Keep the Quit Sparky My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/30/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 81 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 810 Amount Saved: $243.00 Life Gained: Days: 11 Hrs: 0 Mins: 4 Seconds: 15

John, Keep me posted on the running. It really is one thing that keeps me from lighting up right now. I like the fact that I can run, move, heck even walk up the stairs without getting breathless. Maybe someday we will be famous marathon runners and can say it all started right here! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/28/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 22 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 440 Amount Saved: $121.00 Life Gained: Days: 1 Hrs: 20 Mins: 32 Seconds: 48

That's the HUGEST motivator I can think of - doing the run, great vibe, great feeling, until you finish and your chest feels like someone's run an eggbeater through it. Only makes me want to run more next time, kickstart those lungs into shape! I can't recommend it highly enough for everyone :) x T My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 200 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,600 Amount Saved: 1,100.00 Life Gained: Days: 16 Hrs: 16 Mins: 37 Seconds: 25

I looked at that program, seems pretty easy. I started running when I quit, mainly to deal with some anger and agression :) but I am now running two miles three times a week and trying to get up to three. It is a very good reminder of how much damage I have done to my body. When I finished running last night my chest ached. It is a reward all its own though to know I am physically capable of doing something today that there is no way I could have done a month ago.
