I was pointed to joe cools "This post is for anyone who is thinking about starting back." and found it heartbreaking. Jazz, I think every single one of us, has asked ourselves that very question! What were we so afraid of? Why did we think it would be so terribly hard? Why on earth didn't we learn all about it sooner? Why did we waste so many years poisoning ourselves? I guess now that we know better, we do better! Congrats to you on a winning quit! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 358 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 8,950 Amount Saved: $3,776.90 Life Gained: Days: 47 Hrs: 1 Mins: 43 Seconds: 56

Hi everybody. Excuse me while I give myself a good swift kick in the ash. After almost 2 months of not smoking (yeehaw!!), Im in shock as to why I waited so long to quit. I feel like a totally new person. I knew smoking wasnt good for me, I knew it was affecting my kids, family and friends, I knew it would eventually kill me, I knew it was expensive.what the heck was I thinking? Apparently I wasnt thinking. I remember my mom (who never smoked a day in her life) saying that it had to be the most addictive thing ever she told me Im not a stupid person, and if I knew all the negative things about smoking, yet continued to smoke, it must be a horrible addiction to break. Man, was she right!! She tried to understand it, but as a non-smoker wasnt able to fully appreciate it. But you know what..Im doing it. Im quit And Im going to keep doing it. Forever. P.S. Any newbies or oldies that havent had a chance to read through Joe Cools thread, you really must read it. Ive read it twice and it still brings tears to my eyes, and re-affirms my committment to continue down the road to freedom.
