I accept that I lived addicted & in denial for many, many years. I can no longer accept that kind of life. Now I accept that I have an obligation to myself & the people who love me, to live healthier, and to be present in my own & their lives. To meet that obligation, I must accept that I can never smoke again, not even one. I also accept that I can either enjoy Haagen Dasz, beer and chocolate on a regular basis or I can be a size 6, not both. That was the hardest. I used to accept that I was addicted and that it was too hard to quit. Now, I accept that I was addicted and it is w/in my power to quit. I accept that I have that power w/in me and it is only that I have to use it. Pretty cool, actually. I also accept my new found freedom. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/25/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 46 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,380 Amount Saved: $269.10 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 4 Mins: 2 Seconds: 8

I agree with you completly. I choose to accept that I am an addict and that I want to be in control of me! 223 Days Quit and I don't want to go back for anything! Especially since most cartons of smokes these days cost anywhere from $30.00 to $50.00 dollars. That carton would only have lasted me about 1 week. That was one of the biggest reasons for my quit. The other was my health. I have more money now, and better health! Thanks to the SSC for helping me to stay on track and keep my quit. Acceptance 1. the mental attitude that something is believable and should be accepted as true; 2. the act of accepting with approval; favorable reception; 3. the state of being acceptable and accepted; Accept: to accommodate or reconcile oneself to: to accept the situation. to regard as normal, suitable, or usual. to receive as to meaning; understand. to receive without adverse reaction. As addicts, we do one of two things: 1. Accept the addiction as something we have little control over and we give in allowing the addiction to control us and to win the battle. ~OR~ 2. We accept that we are stronger than the addiction that has controlled our lives and we do everything possible to beat the addiction. We refuse to let it control us any longer. Even in my weakest moments of despair, I have managed to stay quit. It hasn't been easy but I accepted the challenge to remain smoke free no matter what. I continue to make that choice every day no matter what. Which do you accept? Who is stronger? You or your Addiction?
