Hi CMT, I hope you are feeling better. If you have not started feeling better soon maybe you could try another antidepressant. Several people here have said that Paxil didn't work for them & some even said that it made them more anxious. I'm not a dr but thats just a suggestion. (I take Zoloft & have done very well on it) Also, I have tried & tried to find a specialist on panic/agoraphobia but cant seem to find any in my area. I have seen two different therapists & it was nice to talk to someone but I honestly felt like I knew more about the disorder than they did. I dont mean that in a arrogant way but they dealt with a lot of different things. (marriage counceling, kids, etc.) Where do you live? Sometimes there are really good dr's & programs that you could get involved with in your area. Thanks & hope to hear from you soon! Chanda

Thanks Chanda, It really helps to know that someone else my age can relate. I mean this morning I had a good cry on my boyfriend's shoulder because I am so tired to dealing with this. I just want to wake up with no worries and just have a normal and productive day. I really appreciate your suggestions, believe me I will try them all. nothing sounds too crazy to me. One question, have you ever talked with someone? If so, what kind of doctor was it? I am in the process of looking for someone that might be able to help me further. I don't know if my medication is working. I have been on Paxil for about a month and a half and i still feel ****py. Last night I was so nausious and nervous for no reason. Some nights are worse than others I guess. Thanks for your help.

Hi CMT & welcome to the group. I am also 26 years old & have a great life. I have been having panic attacks for about a year now & I take Zoloft & Xanax as needed. I'm not sure if there's just one thing that has helped me but rather a combination of things. I think my medication has made a huge difference & I also do a lot of reading. (some books that helped: From Panic To Power by Lucinda Bassett & Don't Panic by R. Reid Wilson) For me trying to have a more positive attitude seems to be making a difference. Rescently I've been trying something that also seems to help me. (it might sound silly but whatever helps..right..??) To stop anxious thoughts & anticipatory anxiety I put a rubber band on my wrist & everytime an anxious thought pops into my head I pop the rubber band on my wrist. It really does take my mind off the thought that I was having. I hope that doesn't sound too weird but I read on another site where someone had reccomended it so I tried it. It is the same concept as picturing a big red stop sign to stop the thoughts. (That is taught in cognitive behavorial therapy.) Do you use the panic program on this site? It also has some really good tips for thought-catching. I hope this has not confused you more (it's late & I probably shouldn't be trying to spell much less giving advise right now..lol) I hope this helps! Chanda

Cmt, You have come to the right place! Please continue to share your thoughts with us. There are many people within this support group that share the same questions and concerns as you. We are all a group of individuals who support each other. If you look to the left of the screen under "TOOLS" you will find many supportive tests. These tests are not diagnostic tools and are not a replacement or substitute for a physician's advice. The purpose of these tests is to prepare you with information that you can present to your physician. When you're finished the test, you can either print your Final Report or email it directly to your doctor. We also have developed a Panic Program. This program is 12-weeks and involves the tools mentioned above. Each session is based on the previous session, so we strongly advise that you work slowly through the program and not jump ahead. These tests may or may not be for you but they are "free". If you have any question or concerns with our €œTOOLS€, you can contact Susanne or me at support@paniccenter.net. We are the Support Specialist for The Panic Center and are open to any questions or concerns you may have. Looking forward to hearing from you soon! Josie

I am new to this "Panic" world and it is scary. I have been reading everything I can online about it and how people have recovered from it. I am scared about things on a normal basis that I never used to think of. This is just not like me and I don't know how to handle it. I just started Paxil a month ago and now have Xanax to use on a need to use basis. The medicine scares me a bit but I want to try everything to feel better and enjoy my life. I am 26 and have a great life. Is there anything anyone can tell me that has helped them? I would really appreciate it. I am excited that I found this website!
