B12 deficiency - woo hoo

14 years ago 0 1044 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Went back to the dr. today to follow up on bronchitis; she thinks another round of antibiotics is in order to help me get rid of the rest of congestion, sinus issues, sore throat.  Also, with me working at an alcohol/drug treatment facility, many times the consumers of the service will have been using and have depleted immune systems causing them to have alot of illnesses like flu's, cold's and such.  She thinks getting my immune system up to par will help me resist some of the risks of exposure.  I like her proactive approach.  She also indicated being it is Christmas and many gathered together could be an issue.
I got my last B12 shot today.  Next one is a month away instead of a week.  I can tell the difference in how I feel physically and mentally. People tell me I look "better".  (This is a good thing.)  I seem to be more alert and not have as much difficulty with verbal communication, finding words, concentration, focus, etc.  I know the depression is still lingering and have my good/bad days but do believe this was an important discovery!  The lack of mental clarity was a major stressor for me.

I am happy to hear the B12 is helping you to clear the brain fog as I call it.  To bad you had to get the flu.  May be this would be a good time to pamper your self.  Curl up in bed with a good book, some hot soup and get well.
I want to thank you for answering my post on core beliefs, titled beating myself up. I will take your advice and go slow on this session.  You are such a Angle caring about all of us even when your ill.  Please make sure you rest  now and take care of your self so that you can get well.

Goofy!

So glad you are feeling better! And reading again too!  Excellent.

I am sorry you are feeling ill though. Cuddle up with some hot beverage and relax.  Look forward to feeling better.  Can't wait to hear about how you are feeling once you are better from the flu/bronchitis!

Okay, I'm back to woo hoo on the vitamin deficiency.  I've got more energy, my brain is clearer and communicatng verbally is less of a challenge (whew!)  I can read a bit better if I put my glasses on these days (old age caught up with me the past 4 years).   I got my third shot yesterday instead of tomorrow as I got the flu or bronchitis over the weekend and was at Dr. office anyway; said it wouldn't hurt.  Now if I get over the flu or whatever then I'll really feel good.  :)  In the meantime, don't feel much like doing anything but hibernating with this bronchitis/flu - does it matter what they call it - I just gotta take the meds - and get better right?????

What did I learn? Geez, well, I can be self-reliant did what needed to be done re: work situation, I can make informed decisions re: medications.  I can ask for help when needed  re: third trip at 1 1/2 hours round trip in one day.  I can handle more stress than I had thought.  I was stressed though!  Don't let them give me a bunch of new meds at one time.  Slowly add them after aclimate to one so I (they) can know where the problem is.  My son is just as supportive as I thought he'd be and he sacraficed football night for ME! (lol).  My granddaughter and grandmother are both as precious as I thought.
I learn perserverance and keeping my s*** together pays off.  I also know there is always hope and grateful for what life gives me each and every day (at least something; even if it's small)

Hi goofy,

That sounds really hectic and intense! After reading your extremely complex story, I was really happy to hear that you are hopeful! The day has come and gone and now you can focus on the rest of the week. One day at a time.

What is your new game plan? What did you learn from that whole mess of a day?

Check in soon!

Okay, what a mixed up yesterday.  I was told to verbally to report; but a letter was sent telling me to wait until Wed.  I didn't open the letter because I didn't get it out of the mailbox until I was on my way to the city 45 min. away.  So, I opened on the way and see I'm supposed to be there at 9.  so I called and told them I misunderstoon.  No, all orientations are cancelled until Jan. 11th.  So I called my boss and said "what's up?" (in a professional manner) and he said well, computers are down, obviously some miscommunication because supposed to be there Wed. not today (sure enough the letter did say Wednesday).  So I debated what to do as I couldn't get ahold of anyone I needed to  - have a Dr. appt. scheduled for Wed. a.m.  So finally, decided I'd just go in and give them my paperwork and find out when they want me back.  lol,  I thought what can they do fire me.  The rescheduled for wed. and went home
So I called the Dr.  (office in same town 45 min away) and ask the nurse to ask the dr.  She said you have an appt. this afternoon.  I said no I don't.  We cancelled rescheduled for 16th because of my other scheduled appt.  She said no, this afternoon 3:30.  Anyway, I drive back to paducah, medications in hand (literally) instead of my piece of paper with all my info on it (computer broke and got to pick it up).  Oh, they said you don't have an appt. today and I reminded them of conversation earlier in day.  hmmmm,  anyway saw the dr.  he said what's up, I said nothing is working together right.  I got all these new meds and I want to go back to the basics, and do the basic anti-depressant and the B12 shots. He said good plan.  Then I called the gen. prac.  Also said good idea.  So I'm slowly cutting back on all meds until I get back to where I was and going to take antidepressant and B12
NOW, I got to go back home and get Grandmother and take her to the same town 45 minutes away to her ostomy meeting.  I'm exhausted.  Know I don't need to drive and I call my son and ask him if he will drive us over there as I am afraid of the drive home in the dark so tired. He agrees and brings my granddaughter.   We drove around a local part and looked at Christmas lights.  I came home and went to bed!  Exhausted!
But with HOPE!  And thankful I got through the day.  What a mess!  lol

Thanks Pete!
