Well meaning people, negative comments?

HI Melissa, First of all I want to congratulate you on a great quit!! Time for a well deserved reward!! Secondly I wouldn't worry about what people have to say at work especially those concerned about the weight gain. This kept me from quitting for too many years and yes I gained weight but I can and am losing it. I noticed at work when people ask me about my quit what I really am hearing is " I didn't think she could do it", "oh crap she's stronger than I thought" "she's doing more work than me since she's not out on those smoke breaks" Most people at my job bet that I couldn't quit smoking. Some are envious some just stay away LOL Either way don't worry about it and smile because I bet some of the people at your job wish they were you!!! Keep up the quit and keep smiling!!! Rough patch.. and now moved on !

Hi Jean, You are doing soooo good and you are so strong not to let lifes B.S. ruin your quit!!! I admire you for your honesty and wish I could take some of the pain away that your feeling but you are the one who is making a difference in your own life and if you haven't realized how strong you really are then you need to look back and say to yourself "I'm going to do this and you have!!!" Forget the mishap in the past and look ahead. You have helped me, and alot of people here. I am not trying add any guilt only thanks and appreciation. We were all once smokers and we should all know that this quit should never be taken for granted!!! I really do admire your strength and so should you!! Killing The Grizzly Again

Hey Cowboy, Good to hear your doing well. I can give you a few pounds I'm trying to get rid of if you want LOL. I was getting worried there thanks for letting us know your hanging in there. You won't gain a ton of weight but you might gain some. I switched to light beer on my nights out and started hiking and lifting weights. Suggestion... try going to a health food store and see what they might have as a replacement to chew for people who are quitting chew. I heard that there is an herb that can be put between cheek and gum that is used more for an increase in metabolism. It's something to consider as a replacement as long as it is not addictive. Either way we are here for you!!OK? OK! I ruined 73 hard earned days

I totally blew it and feel like crap!!! I haven't been able to stop crying and feel horrible. I haven't been on for a few days because I was away and did great until I had to pick up my daughter today and an argument ensued again that started on Thursday. My anger and the stress of looking for a home to buy, (has to be where she wants), having medical issues of a surgical kind, basically everything finally got to me and I slipped!! I can't take my daughters 14 year attitude and I can't lay a hand on her even though she needs a boot in the rear. Her dead beat dad is no help and rewarded her behavior with a trip up north. Yet he can't pay the hundreds he owes in back child support!! I feel beaten down. I know I can't blame her for my slip I can only blame myself and to be really honest I don't know if I'm strong enough to deal with all the stress I'm going through right now. I want to stay quit I need help how to handle my kid. She knows I smoked an how important my quit has been and she doesn't care. Am I expecting too much from her?? What do I do??? I've already spent so much money on taking her to a therapist and it hasn't helped. I just feel so awful :( My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/16/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 73 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,555 Amount Saved: $803.00 Life Gained: Days: 7 Hrs: 0 Mins: 17 Seconds: 10

I ruined 73 hard earned days

No smoking didn't help!! I smoked one cigarette and felt like getting sick. I chose to smoke over hitting my kid.I raised my hand after repeated back talk and cursing at me and she threatened to have me arrested if I laid a hand on her which I wouldn't have done it anyway and it hurt to hear her say that. Her father put in her head that if move to the town that I'm looking to buy in that he would take me to court because it's too far for him to pick her up on weekends. It's only 10 minutes from where I live now. Go figure and I'm already taking him to court for non payment of support. So as you can see this is not something that is going to end anytime soon. I'm not going to reset my meter at this time. If I give up the fight I will but for now I have to keep trying My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/16/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 73 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,555 Amount Saved: $803.00 Life Gained: Days: 7 Hrs: 0 Mins: 19 Seconds: 44

I ruined 73 hard earned days

Thanks everyone for your support and advise. Butterfly swimmer I wish I could promise to post and wait before picking up another cigarette but I don't want to let you, me and anyone else down. Like I said earlier too I wasn't near a computer when the battle started.I can only say for today I will not smoke!! I found out today she's been cutting classes and late for school alot. It seems she's getting a ride to school with her friends which she knows I would not approve of. I've tried talking to her and I don't get anywhere and I mean a heart to heart talk and no yelling. She shuts me out and it's all about her without compromise. I know her father has alot to do with this but it's a tough battle when he lets her do whatever she wants and I have rules. Anyway I'm hanging in there barely but holding on. I ruined 73 hard earned days

Hi everyone, well I'm still fighting the urges even after that one smoke (stupid mistake) and have made an appointment to get into therapy for myself. I also reviewed my coping skills and my daughter and boyfriend were, and still are my triggers. I took care of one problem by having him move out. As for my daughter, I gave her the option to go live her father since he put it in her head that she can live with him anytime but when she packed up. he told her he couldn't take her. This made things worse and this was a few months ago. As much as she drives me crazy I know if she were to go live with him I would lose her. He's irresponsible and uses drugs which is why I left him 12 years ago. The courts still allowed visitation even with all the proof in the world. I don't know if I'm looking for excuses, it's just so hard sometimes when I feel helpless and get in a slump of a mood. I'm sick of crying!! Back to counseling, maintain my quit and be an evil mom for the time being. At least she talked to me a little bit last night even though she lost alot of her priveledges. I'll try to sign back on tonight. Thanks again for everything!!! What does "one slip" mean?

Butterfly swimmer You are soooooo right and hit the nail on the head!! As you know I slipped and have been craving again. It wasn't worth it and I do feel like I failed myself. I'm my own worse enemy but I'm not giving up!! Better to spend money on the patch again then to start again. This brings up another point. I stopped the patch too soon and mentally didn't prepare for the emotional stresses I'm going through. Please for the new quitters follow your program as prescribed!! Don't cheat yourself and make the mistake I made. One cigarette, one slip is all it takes to put that nicotine in your system and it can get you started all over again. I have to stay focused or I will lose the fight. N.O.P.E. is so true...
