40 days continued

hate when u hit the wrong button Anyways as I was saying.... Before I found this site I really had a terrible time with my quit. The anger was so much that I kept doing this out of body thing and going to myself "who are you" I was so angery with myself for quiting. I couldn't for the life of me think of any good reason why I did. Things like living longer, my health, my children, my husband, my grandchildren none of those things would come into mind. Yet I have this determination inside of me to not pick up. In my 30 some years of smoking I have only quit twice before. One lasted four months (about 18 yr ago) and the other was about 2 yrs ago for 7 weeks. This time was so much harder, can I say I don't think I have another quit in me and have anyone understand what I'm saying when I say that? I'm not always good about writing things down and saying what I'm feeling and going through. Others say it so well and the with such grace. I just want to say thank you to sooooo many of you for your support and kind words and your kick in the butt words. I know I have only been here a week yet in this last week I know I didn't pick back up because I found out I was not alone and there truly are others out there who care and really go all out to help each other just get through. Again thank you Laurie ^I^ My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/9/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 40 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 808 Amount Saved: $160 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 16 Mins: 45 Seconds: 12

40 days

Today makes 40 days of smoke free living. I can remember not able to go 4 hours without. I didn't find SSC until I had 35 (I think) days. I'm still having some of that quit smokers fog hanging on. For the last week I come on to the site every morning and stay most of the whole day sucking in every ounce of support I can. I read, re-read, relate, and re-relate just holding on to a life line that is giving me hope and assurance. I rally haven't posted because I feel that I have been so down and who really wants to hear from downers all the time. Yet when I read the answers to those who do post that are having a rough time it lifts me up and helps me know I'm not alone. 40 days continued

THank you Rusty, & Missyfit. After I wrote my post I went out for a walk. I have been punishing myself for stopping smoking. In forty days I have put on 10 pounds. Oh gosh if I keep this up I'll have to buy a rhinestone store to cover my granny-panties. So I took a walk on the boardwalk and started doing some renewing of the mind. A baby step at a time. I think I can, I think I can, I think I can, ..... Hello, 12 hours smoke free!!!

Patch, welcome and YOU CAN DO IT... We are all here for you. It's not going to be easy and you know that. If it was then we wouldn't need this site, and we would have quit long time ago instead of saying we belong to the 30 yr. group. The first 3 days are the roughest, stay close, post, sleep, exercise, go some place where you can't smoke. What ever it takes CAUSE YOU CAN DO IT. You are doing great and we are all with you Laurie ^I^ My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/9/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 40 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 810 Amount Saved: $160 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 16 Mins: 57 Seconds: 54

Will I must run out of tears eventually.

CS This too shall pass. i hated when someone would say that to me. I cried for a week. I couldn't understand it, finally my husband said to just let it flow and enjoy it. I thought he was as nuts as I was but he was right. Your body is going through some BIG major changes. You have 6 days behind you and that is great. You will go through many different changes some easy and some not. If it was going to be easy then we would not need each other as much as we do. I cried and I slept and I felt the depression take over. And even when I tried to talk with someone no matter what they said it didn't help. What has helped is reading over the post and pass post to find out there where and are so many who have also gone through what you are. It help me to know that I was not alone. Did it bring out the depression NO. I still go through my differnt stuff and when I'm in it I'm in it. I smoked over 30 years and I had to realize that the nicotine and toxins and all the bad stuff that I did to my body by choosing to smoke was going to take it's toll on me getting out of me. But getting over to the over side of it is great. If you want you can e-mail me and I can call you and you can cry and yell and what ever you need to do. I have been there and I will be there if you need someone to talk to.
