Panic Attacks again

Hi Tulip22 - Thanks so much for signing up and for sharing you story. I noticed that you hadn't completed any of the program sessions. When you complete a session the graphics under the space for you avatar will be coloured in. My suggestion i for you to you read through Session One of the Anxiety Module (the one with the ribbons) and take the short quiz at the end. This should help answer a lot of the questions you have in your post.

Thanks again for sharing your story, and please feel free to contact me through this program's private messaging feature if you have any other questions.

Cheers!

Broke at work

Hi Mlemieux,

Thanks for sharing your story - you are definitely not alone. It's a safe place here so please feel free to keep us updated on how you are doing.

You might want to check out the first session of the program as it will give you some important background on how you are feeling. You might also want to take the depression test, print it out, and hand it to your doctor. It's a great way to start the conversation without having to jump into a lot of explaining or detail.

Please keep us posted - we are all listening!

When people don't return phone calls

Hi Kittycat1234 - You might want to check out Session 3 of the Anxiety program: https://evolutionhealth.care/session?pageId=105&sessionId=12.

In that session we introduce you to the concept of challenging your anxious thoughts. Anxious thoughts certainly increase panic and anxiety, but the good news is that you can learn to challenge them. Learning to do this is a skill and it takes time - but it's worth it!

Please let us know if we can help!

Just been diagnosed and i'm learning how to cope

Hi Sadams02,

Thanks for posting! As you noted there's always been a lot of social stigma around depression, and it's easy to be judgemental when it doesn't effect you. As you know, anyone at any time can become depressed, and it doesn't have anything to do with how successful you are, how much money you have, how educated you are, or what kind of job you have. Depression can effect anyone at any time.

I see from your trophy icons that you've completed the first few sessions. Hopefully they did a good job at explaining what depression is. The program is a lot of hard work, but if you follow the sessions and do the homework you will get better.

We've also recently relaunched this program and community, and any time we have a relaunch it takes some time for traffic to pick back up. Thanks for posting as a lot of people will read your post and it will help them not feel so alone. We encourage people to post as for most, depression is a very lonely and private disorder, and people with depression often feel very lonely and isolated. This community is anonymous, so posting is safe and research shows that even one post can give you a feeling of accomplishment and hope - and that's a good thing!

Please feel free to keep posting, ask questions to me, other moderators, or community members and let us know how you are doing.

Best,

Trevor

Help to: Alternative Thoughts in Advanced Anxious Thoughts Form

Hi Marko,

It's great to see that you're making progress and really thinking this through! At this point in the program what really matters is that you are breaking your anxious thoughts down. This is hard work, but you'll notice that the more you work on it, the better you'll get and the better you'll feel.

In your situation an alternative thought might be: "I've felt bad at work before, and one thing I seem to focus on when I'm feeling bad is that someone might not be there to help me. Rarely do I ever ask for help, so I might take this energy and focus on challenging what's making me feel anxious in the first place".

Evidence against the anxious thought might be: "People are generally helpful, and someone will be there for me if I need help. If I saw someone who was panicking I'd be very understanding and more than happy to help them out".

I see that you are on Session 2. Session 3 talks a little more about alternative thoughts, specifically this page: https://evolutionhealth.care/session?pageId=107&sessionId=12

Congrats on working hard and please keep us posted on your progress!

Best,

Trevor

Warmest Greetings!

Hi TYingling and welcome! A great place to start is the depression and anxiety test, which you can access on your program home page:

After you've taken the test take a look at your results and perhaps share them with your health care provider, or feel free to share them here (to make sure you remain anonymous remember to not use your real name or any other personal information).

Best,

Trevor

Need help to save my family and marriage

Hi Shepherd - thanks so much for having the courage to post, and I'm so sorry to hear about the issues you are having with your family, especially as the relationships you have with them are obviously very important to you. It sounds like you have a lot on your plate, and it is important to remember that you need to take care of yourself.

From what you wrote it seems like the three relationships you described have their own positive aspects and challenges. Since they are all different relationships you might want to take a look at the session three under More Help, which is called Resolving Disputes:

The exercises in that session are designed to help you learn how to confidently deal with personal disputes. That way, when you find yourself in a challenging situation, you’ll have the tools to help you navigate through it.

You might also want to think about private messaging or responding to some other new users in this community. Getting support from others, and supporting others, is very important and can help you see that you're not alone.

Please keep us posted,

Trevor

Need help to save my family and marriage

Hey Shepard - we're so sorry to hear about your dog. We know that pets are close family members and it's very difficult to loose them. I think you are working on quite a bit right now, and it sounds like you're not getting any rest, but for anyone else reading (or if you have the time) we also have a section on grief and loss. For anyone interested see: More Help > Butterfly (Session) 6.

We can't comment, and it wouldn't be fair for us to comment, on what stage you are at with your wife. You are the best judge of that, and you are only in control of how you act towards others. And you must take care of your well being.

The session content and exercises are frameworks to help you work off of, and it's alway important to talk about these tools with someone who knows you. if you have access to one, your healthcare professional is the best person to speak to as they speak to many other folks in your position. We are also always happy to keep sharing information with you here.

When issues get confusing or overwhelming we encourage you to refer the the Resolving Disputes Final Thoughts section. Here is a direct link: https://evolutionhealth.care/session?pageId=191&sessionId=21.

Please get some rest and keep us posted.
