Hello all!

Hi Teebs and attacus,

First off Teebs..thanks for all the excellent advice.  You and and the members of this board are what make this place so helpful for new members.

And the advice was right on.   Challenging negative thoughts, such as "I am going to vomit if I eat" will really help.  This is a key part of the program (you will get to this in session 3)

Even if you have tried CBT before, please give this program a try.  Take your time with the program as it allows you to go at your own pace.

If you do end up getting prescribed medication, here is a technique for getting comfortable taking pills.

1) Talk to your doctor & ask questions
2) Talk to your pharmacist & ask questions
3) Talk to other people who have taken this medication (Support group members ;))
4) Practice with "fake pills" such as frozen peas. Practice the act of swallowing the "pill"
5) Practice holding the pill in your mouth
6) Take the pill

Let me know if this helps and please post here often if you have any questions.

i am new any thought

Hi dizzy,

You have made great strides in challenging your negative thoughts.  While you may feel that it will be hard to believe the alternative outcomes to your negative thoughts, things will get easier with consistency.

My advice would be to continue challenging these thoughts as you have.  It may seem pointless, but as many have pointed out, it does work.

Take your time through this step.  And if at all possible, take another read through session 3: challenging negativity.  Its amazing how much more we take away from this section on a second read.

Keep sharing both your successes and challenges with us.

Pain..

Hi Brittany,

Can you explain your situation a little more? Do you suffer from anxiety or panic?  If, so have you seen a doctor about it?

Its really sounds like things are challenging right now for you with your present symptoms.  While many of your symptoms could be related to possible panic or anxiety, I think you should consult your doctor to get a proper consultation.

We are here for you, please post back with more information.

Trying to find source of attacks which will lead me to the proper exposure plan

Thanks Teebs and Davit.

All good advice here.  Dizzy sounds like you have put a lot of thought into your condition and are very motivated. This may make it hard to put on the brakes as suggested but in the long run this may help you focus and make steady progress.  I good pace would be to tackle a new session every week to allow you time to re-visit the online course if necessary.

So with that said, what do you think may be an area to work on in the next week?

Please share and post often to allow others to help.

Decluttering

Need some organization?

Are you cluttered, inside and out?

Make sense of it all, without having to feel overloaded and closed in.

Take it room by room, and start purging.  Get rid of anything you haven’t used for more than a year.  Clothes, toys, knick knacks, books, shoes, etc and free yourself of clutter.

This can be very therapeutic!

It keeps you busy and occupied
It frees you of clutter
It can relax you
You may actually find something you lost.

Purging can be a great coping and relaxing technique, so start with one room and work your way around the house!

wedding success!

Thanks for sharing Juanita!

This is great.  Is there any component which really stands out that helped you along or do you think it was the program as a whole?

Whatever it was, it was in large due to your hard work and commitment.   Awesome.

Please keep on sharing your success with us!

Weekend Prep

Hi Red,

No worries....this is a good place to post your current challenges.

Sounds like some people in the class are making the class more challenging than it needs to be.  Am I right to assume that it is only a couple of individuals and not all people in the class?  if so, is is possible to sit near other, more focused people?

Is it possible to have music in the background during your class? This may allow you to focus on something else to while you work.

Members, do you have any other recommendations for Red?

 Please share.

Challenging Worry

Hi Dizzy,

I think you are headed in the right direction.   It is however an interesting question: Do you keep with CBT and exposure therapy or, work on relaxation techniques to deal with these situations in a way that will not cause this uneasiness.

I think the answer may be working on both as alternative relaxation techniques will help deal with similar situations in the short term and exposure work may help in the long run.

Members, what do you think is the best way to deal with Dizzy's situation?  Please share.

Also New

Hi jen,

Thanks for posting.   I am sure that there are many acheivements that you have accomplished that just might not be top of mind right now.  The fact that you are a mother of more than one child means that you must be great with balancing many things at once.  This is no small feat.  This should definitely be applauded and acknowledged.

Try to take a look around our site as there is a wealth of information to help you deal with your anxiety.   There is an online program with sessions that you can do at your own pace.  Session 1, 2, and 3 will walk you through understanding your anxiety and how you can start to challenge your negative thoughts.

In addition, come here to post and read from members that have gone through this program.  You will see very quickly that there is a wealth of knowledge and advice from people just like you.

After you take a look over the program, always feel free to ask questions in this forum.

Have a great night and take care.

I´m new

Hi clooney,

Thanks for the post....I am sure it will help many members as you expressed many of the same thoughts they are probably experiencing.

It really sounds that the program is working for you.  Besides these forums, what other parts of the program really stick out that you think other members should concentrate on?

Keep sharing your thoughts.
