June quitter

Hey Stellablue, I've been following your blog and see today your having a tuff one. Yesterday was mine. It was my first day of quitting and I got fussy. I know I need to be honest with people around me to let them know I'm struggling. Sorry you having a bad one, but you've done great so far!

I can do this with support

I have smoked for 40 years and have quit a year here a year there. Five years once. My mistake is going on vacations and thinking I can smoke short term and quit when I get home. Then right back to it. So yesterday was my first day again and going thru the cravings. Mostly smoke in the morning, so I thought I'd write and have a cup of coffee with you guys instead of my cigs.

I can do this with support

Thanks guys, I just was honest with another one of my friends and she's great at giving me support. In the past I've kept it to myself. I'm in another support program and have the tools of one day at a time. But still grumpy, the normal withdrawals from nicotine, it seems to be the first 4 days that is the worse.

I can do this with support

Yes there is and I knew I needed support this time to get it and hopefully one day be able to give it back to the next guy. I just went to a meeting and it was tuff driving in the car. When I got home, needed to put a fire in the woodstove since its' a bit chilly today and that's where I usually smoke. Trigger areas are still tuff.

Partner support

Hi Lindsey, Remember we are the ones changing our behavior and he will never REALLY understand what we are going thru unless he's been through it too. He can only educate himself and Ashley has done a good job of describing what I am feeling right now on day 2. But I know it will pass and get easier with time and support from the people who care on this site.

Another quit attempt.

Hi Stevo, I'm on day 4 and it gets a little easier everyday. Still get the "waves" and trigger spots, but am really trying to stay focused on quitting this time. I try to redirect my thoughts and wash dishes or sweep the back deck or something to keep busy. Taking that 1st puff would be my downfall and I know by reading all these comments I cannot take one puff in safety. Thanks for sharing your story we can do this together one day or one hour at a time.

Congrats on day 98! I'm on day 4 and know it will get easier. Stick with it Stella and thank you for your support. I try really hard to redirect my thoughts to doing something else when I get a "wave". Still tuff in those trigger areas, car, woodstove etc., I'm on Wellbutrin and kind of really got started before it had a chance to make my cigs taste bad. I had only taken 2 and I woke up that morning and decided I was going to try. But I now know the cig would taste really bad even if I tried. Bummer, coffee does not taste right either, but a small price to pay to stay quit!
