Today, I'm going to visit a friend who quit about 5 years ago. I have been talking with her about my quit, as well. I will not smoke today, either. We will consume alcohol, 'cause neither one of us is giving up everything. But we will not smoke.
Ah, yes! It's another good day to take a pledge. I will not smoke today.
Funny. I was scared to take this pledge for a a few weeks after I quit, since I didn't want to mess up. At this point, I'm feeling much more confident in my ability to follow through. Yesterday was the lowest crave day I think I've had so far. I didn't even think about cigarettes until 8 PM, and that thought was simply about how much damage they do.
So I'm feeling pretty good about my pledge today. Here's to everyone being able to follow through today.
Yahoo! I recently crossed the 30 day thresh-hold. It seems to be a big one. Kind of a deeper sense of "I can do this" once that has passed. Congratulations.
I'm really noticing the smell on smokers these days. It seems to get into the system and sweat out through one's pores or something. Seems like there really isn't a way to disguise it. I never realized that I smelled that funky. It's a reminder to not go back.
Remember how bad the cravings were when you first quit? If you could get past those, you can get through this day. Not to mention the fact that you don't go through all the physical withdrawal and intense cravings that will go with quitting again. Even one or two (and you know you'll wnt more than that), and you'll have to do the detox routine again. Not worth it at all.
Now, think of all the positives: You smell better, your friends and family are proud of you, you're saving money, you're breathing better, and your circulation has improved. Your brain is getting a heckuva a lot more oxygen-rich blood than it was a couple of months ago, so you are smart enough to just say "nope" today.
I just finished Day 50. I've been off the site for a while, due to travelling. Just logged on today, and realized I'd hit Day 50. Not only that, but there were several days on vacation in which I totally forgot to think about cigarettes, for good or for bad. Amazing how much easier it gets as time goes on.
Yahoo! I just got back from my real-life vacation and found this. Congratulations! I also found that, as of today, I get to jump on the cruise ship with y'all.
