Wow. You've been working toward this for 3 years? Here's to perseverance, my friend! I don't think I would have the ----s to keep trying for that long.
....Guess that's why I'm working on just doing my quit once.
Wow. I was having the relapse dream every 2-3 nights for a while. When reading your post, it occurred to me that the nicotine dreams are happening less frequently now. I don't think I've had any this week.
While none of us has exactly the same experience, I can relate to your struggle with other peoples' judgments. It can be very disenheartening to hear someone say, "Just do it," like it's that easy. At first, I chose to disclose about my quitting only with people that I trusted to be supportive. At this point, I still have not told certain people in my life that I have quit. I know that they have the potential to say some judgmental and damaging things that could possibly jeopardize my focus on staying quit.
By the way, former smokers can sometimes be very judgmental, too. (Just so there is no misunderstanding, that does NOT apply to the individuals I've interacted with here.)
I guess it's ultimately up to each of us to maintain our head space and focus when others say stupid things. But if you can avoid hearing those things altogether, even better.
I hooked up with a group that plays board games on Friday night. Also, I finally signed up for the gym and have been a couple of times. I think I need to slip in at least one workout this weekend. Then do some paperwork that I've been ignoring all week. I'll probably also watch Suze Orman and revel in the money I've saved so far.
Wish I had something more exciting to report, but that's OK. The past month has had a lot of excitement. Maybe it's time to practice not smoking when I've got less to do, eh?
