Good luck everyone. I have definitely been low, too (my girlfriend dumped me right around when I quit, too - that's been fun, NOT). I'm blaming the smokes... they've been keeping us down for a long time - I was depressed before I quit - now I think the clouds are starting to lift. It'll take a while since they've had ~20 years to amass. Yesterday was the first day since I quit that I just had a great feeling, that I was getting somewhere - maybe a glimmer at the end of the tunnel.
I've been taking yoga since I quit and I just started going to a counselor, just to talk about things. I think it helps - it's a distraction and I look forward to it. I try to plan my days full so I don't have too much idle time to worry about not succeeding.
it's the dang nicodemon taking you for a last ride through the muck. I think this is what they mean by tying a knot in the end of your rope and holding on. THIS TOO SHALL PASS. Hang tight.

That's awesome Vicki! Congrats - I think I've quit on that date (10/17) probably at least 5 times - it's my birthday. Maybe we can celebrate together next year when you hit your one year celebration.
again, congratulations. You've earned something nice - what's it gonna be?

This was an excel spreadsheet that I made to make a little extra money and to have a bit more incentive in holding on to this quit... feel free to use it - good luck. The way I figure, I'll have a couple hundred extra dollars when I'm thru and the people who signed on were more than happy to oblige, which was nice too. Some support never hurt. We need all of the tools we can get...
Come one, come all, and join the (YOUR NAME HERE) NO-SMOKE-A-THON

didn't copy very well, but you get the idea. I put an end date on it so I didn't scare anyone into thinking they would be paying royalties for the rest of my long life.

This is just a test - which you will pass. Go take that nearly $300 you've saved being smoke free and get something you want. You are worth it. You earned it. I know you're not going to smoke as you know it won't make you feel a lick better.
Here's a big 'ol (((((((((((((((((((HUG))))))))))))))))))))) for you, though.
Happy birthday!!! and happy almost 90th re-birthday! You're kickin' ass, seabass - sometimes we have to endure the suffering alone. Look at Lance Armstrong, when asked what sets him apart from the rest,"I think I love suffering"... B.S. - he loves winning and so do I and so does most everyone. YOU ARE WINNING, BUTTERFLY. HANG TUFF.

great post - thanks for reminding us... it's kinda like christmas when we were kids. It always came, but, regardless, we were all anxious, seemingly counting every second of December about to go out of our minds with anticipation (least that's my recollection). Then, the older we got, the more we were able to savor and enjoy the anticipation of the season - the time flies by now. Much the same, we need to appreciate this time (this is us growing - right before our own eyes - remember the child within?), knowing it will pass. We must hang on. After all, it is a matter of life or death.
thanks again - fish

i'd like to join you guys in ending the chain of smoking in my family line, too. I don't have any kids, yet, but I pray that I will educate them well enough to make the choice to be smoke free.
sad, but excellent, post.
